Ravi Shankar

Ravi Shankar is best known for his artful sitar play. Born in Ben ares, Bangladesh, Shaknar was a musician and composer who had a good ear for music since his teens. He spent his youth in Europe and India, learning and practicing classical dance and sitar playing under court musician Allauddin Khan. Shankar created music for Apu Trilogy after completing his education in music. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1999, the highest civilian honor by Indian court for his unteachable contribution to classical genre of music in India.

Zakir Hussain

Famous for his tabla beats, Zakir Hussain was born to the legendary tabla master, Allah Rakha. He was a child prodigy and learnt the art of table under the guidance of his father. He began practicing tabla by the age of 3 and when he was 11, he began touring the world.

He went on to earn the 1992 Grammy Award for best world music album for his first Planet Drum album. He also performed in various films which specifically showcased his musical performance.

Bismillah Khan

Bismillah Khan is a renowned shehnai player of subcontinent. He is often referred to with the honorific title of Ustad, which means a teacher or a guide. He is credited with popularizing the art of shehnai, which is a wind instrument and is played during traditional festivals and ceremonies. Khan raised its status from being a folk instrument to a stage star in a concert. He was honored with the highest Indian civil award, Bharat Ratna in 2001, becoming the third classical musician to win it after Ravi Shankar and M. S. Subbulakshmi. In addition to that, he was awarded with the Padma Vibhushan award as well.
