Choosing the right wedding shoes
Your wedding day is the most important day of your life. The last thing you or your bridesmaids will want is to spend the whole day with blisters on your heels or sore and aching feet.
Follow our handy tips for choosing the right shoes to wear for your wedding day. You will thank us later!
Avoid
the lofty heights
Unless you are used to walking around in high heels for hours every day, we would suggest you steer clear of choosing 7 inch heels for your big day. Remember ladies – bigger isn't always better! A more comfortable height would be around 3 inch heels. You will be able to glide gracefully down the isle without falling over half way to the altar and still be able to hit the dance floor later without breaking your ankles.
Strap
it up
No matter what, you will want your shoes to be stable on your big day. You need shoes that look good but also offer a degree of flexibility that allows you to move around and dance. It is time to get strappy! Choosing a shoe style with a strap that will help keep it on your foot will make you feel more confident and secure while on your feet. It will also prevent the chance of taking anyone's eye out should they fly off your feet while on the dance floor!
Try
not to rip it up
Wedding shoe designs are truly beautiful are they not? You may have fallen deeply in love with a pair that are encrusted with crystals and beads – sounds wonderful, yes, but if you are wearing a wedding dress that falls below your ankles, have you thought about how the fabric may catch on your shoes? Take a piece of fabric that is similar to your dress and rub it over your shoes to see if it snags or rips. You may need to think again if your shoes risk shredding your wedding dress hem.
Choose
the right size shoe
You may have the perfect size five feet at home but it is still worth trying on slightly different sizes of wedding shoes to make sure you get a pair that fits. Just like when buying clothes, what it says on the label doesn't always mean that it will fit you. A comfortable fit will mean you are less likely to rub up a blister or even lose a shoe like Cinderella on the steps.
If you are planning to wear your shoes all day and all evening, then it makes sense to break them in before your wedding. This doesn't mean wearing them to work or while out grocery shopping around your local supermarket. Wear them indoors on carpeted or cushioned floors. This way they will remain pristine and scuff-free and you will be able to feel for any tight spots that may need some further adjusting.
