As someone who works at the office five days week, eight hours a day or even more, moods change depending on what is happening on a daily basis. Deadlines, reports, ideas, strategies, plans, execution and many other factors can affect your attitude towards work and these are psychological factors that influence one’s attitude and behavior as well as decision making.

A study says that colors do affect a person’s mood, categorize one’s personality and behavior towards something. One good indicator is when you look at your desk and notice the things on it, you can immediately distinguish which among these items are the ones you like or dislike. Unconditionally, these are the colors that you often like to see or dislike in your surroundings. For example, if you see dark colors like dim or dark blue, you may feel quite a bit sad. On the other hand, seeing a lighter blue can make you feel calmer and dissolve a bit of tension.

Ergonomics

There is a science behind it in terms of developing these simple yet creative ideas that can be applied with the intention of maximizing one’s productivity and improve attitude towards work. When deciding to revamp your workplace, you might want to consider these things in order to help set a good and comfortable atmosphere.

Even today, it feels very refreshing and interesting to see an office that looks odd compared to what you usually see in your cubicle. It serves as an inspiration and motivation that even a small and simple place you stay and spend time everyday in can create impressions that affect a person who sees it. Another good thing about it is that you can gauge the type of person he or she may be whether jolly or shy, strict or loose-cannon even before you personally meet with them.

Also, in the advent of technology, you can even communicate with a person or a group of people anytime and anywhere. You can even have real-time virtual conferences and agendas in the current era. Imagine if you are discussing with someone a room that is too dark or too vibrant, it wouldn't be that comfy.

Dark, dim and shady colors

It is said that black is a color that is timely and classy. Masculine colors such as dark blue, dark red, dark green, at some point can be considered elegant as well but too much dim and shady background on a workplace can emit a gloomy and quite a bit sad atmosphere. These might not be applicable to all since perceptions vary from person to person and impressions on it may be subjective but in general, combination of dark and bright color would give you a better result.

The usual dark colored items you can find on your desk would probably be your ball pen, folder box, chair, table, laptop and/or desktop computer unless you fancy up every single one if it. Every person has their own ideas and preferences specially in choosing the color they want, it’s a matter of blending the right colors to get the best out of it.

Vibrant and soothing colors

Cheerful colors like yellow, and cozy colors like light blue are some of the best examples of it. Each color has significance and meaning; for example, orange, a warm color is relevant to creativity, and helps expand your thinking and allows you to express yourself with ease and confidence. Cool colors, on the other hand, are those that are undertone or light colors and these light colors tend to have a calming and cozy effect.

Vibrant colors also tend to set up the mood and encourage one to become more optimistic.  On the other hand, soothing colors tend to lower the tension and improve relaxation. It doesn’t also raise pressure on a person’s eye since it’s not too bright and not too dim to look at.

Color Blending

There are plenty of methods and color combinations to enhance and make the best out of your room. If you opt to have light and cozy colors in your room, any other office space or even your own personal room at home, it is best to balance it with warm colored fabrics, furniture, and other things you like. It is encouraged to pick lighter colors since it encourages relaxation and more comfortable feeling.

It may not be advisable to select dark colors as the primary color for your unit because a room filled with more dim and dark ambiance can invoke a negative feeling or even sadness and loneliness.

A great blend of both light and dark colors can create a very interesting and eye-catching scene and atmosphere that can be of inspiration to a person as well as yourself especially on the times when you are down, having trouble in your current situation and many other instances that requires a peaceful mind and calm surrounding.
