Category, Applications and Functions of Electronic Component - Capacitors

by Crazzy Paul Digital Markting Professional
A capacitor is a two-terminated electronic component. In an electric field, the capacitor stores the electrical energy. Capacitance is the effect of a capacitor. Mainly, the capacitor is known as a condensator or condenser. It is widely used in an electrical circuit. The capacitor blocks the direct current and allows the passing of alternating current. A capacitor has lots of uses both in the electrical and electronic system.

Categories of Capacitors:

There are many types of capacitors such as, motor run capacitor, ceramic capacitors, electrolytic capacitor, plastic film capacitor, polymer capacitor, Mylar capacitor, polymer capacitor, vacuum variable capacitor, MIS capacitor and others.

Motor Run Capacitor: A motor capacitor is an electrical capacitor that creates a rotating magnetic field of a single phase of AC motor by altering the current. Motor run capacitors are widely used in the air conditioner, large fan, powered gate, and hot spa pumps.

Plastic Film Capacitors: Plastic film capacitor is also known as plastic power capacitor. It is an electrical capacitor, which is composed of electrodes of thin papers. Naturally, this capacitor is made up of two plastic films and is covered with metallic electrodes. There are many advantages to this capacitor. It is regarded as Class I application for its effective job roles. Plastic film capacitor has a high rated voltage.

Mylar Capacitor: Mylar capacitor is a type of polymer film. Polyethylene terephthalate is a technical name of Mylar. Mylar is coated on both sides in this capacitor with the help of a thin film. Due to the low level of moisture absorption, this capacitor cannot absorb much moisture. It is best to use as an alternating current system during low frequencies. Mylar capacitor is used in such semi-circular circuits which have high voltage loads.

Pulse and Power Capacitors: In the pulse power system, pulsed power capacitors are one of the most important components. As it is a critical component for vehicle protection and high power microwave sources, it is widely used in ships, airplane, and mobile platforms. For a high peak current like overhead wires, this capacitor is the best one to use. It has numerous applications in DC power supply, gas lasers, lightning arrestor, X-ray power supplies, and AC voltage distribution. There are many pulse and power capacitors suppliers in Delhi/NCR, India who supply the exemplary quality product.

Function of Capacitor:

When capacitors are connected to a charging point, it starts storing electrical energy. When the device is unplugged, capacitors can maintain the uninterrupted power supply with the help of this stored electricity. It is helpful in saving the power consumption. For instance, the fan motor capacitor once stored an amount of electricity will help you by giving the service and it will not consume any power at that time. When the electrical energy finishes it will again restore it.

Capacitors have other usages as well. They have played an immense role in the proper functioning of the light-emitting diode so-called LED and the loudspeaker system. In this generation, most electrical and electronic gadgets have a capacitor which is important for power saving to some extent.
