Carpet Tile Installation — Tips to Remember

by 212 Carpet A Knowledge Based Commercial Flooring Company!

Installing commercial carpet tiles is a breeze when compared to wall-to-wall carpet rolls. However, since most carpet tiles are self-adhesive, you pretty much only have one shot at this.

Continue reading for carpet tile installation tips that will help you get it right the first time.

How to Start

Because they are tiles, they are effortless to move around and place next to one another. However, because they come in a dizzying array of patterns and colors, you must ensure that all tiles face in the same direction. This should not be too difficult since carpet tiles usually have arrows on the back indicating the laying pattern. The process is very similar to that of installing floor tiles.

By marking a straight line from one corner of the room to the other, you should be able to identify the room's center. The carpet tiles will be laid from the center outward, with each tile fitting snugly against the next. Each tile should be placed in such a way that there are no gaps between them. When you get to the walls, you may need to trim the tiles to fit the space.

The Finish

When all tiles are laid side by side, and the room is covered, it is time to add the finishing touches. The goal here is to ensure that the tiles are laid so that they can breathe, expanding and covering any gaps between joints.

Since carpet tiles are piled on top of one another, expect some crushing. And now that they have been laid, the yarn can "breathe" and recover as it stretches again. Using a brush will help in this process. The idea is to brush in a direction that allows the yarn to fill out again. Note: a brush is only advised for cut-pile carpet and not loop-pile or Berber carpet.

Commercial carpet installation in NYC is not all that difficult. However, if you want the installation done right, hire a professional carpet installer near you.
