Caregiver's duties and responsibilities vary according to state regulations and laws. A person who is working in the health care field may have a variety of duties and responsibilities such as being a home care aide, visiting the patients in the hospital or nursing home and also may be the personal chauffeur or driver for the patient. People who are full-time caregivers are usually assigned a quarter of an hour to an hour shift which means that they will get paid an hourly wage of thirty cents to one dollar and half an hour to two hours shifts.

However, if a person decides to be a part-time caregiver, he or she can be hired on an hourly wage of ten cents to an hour. There are also people who prefer to work as part-time caregivers because they find it more challenging and exciting. This kind of job is not very demanding. On the other hand, if a person chooses to work as a caregiver, he or she should be a registered nurse. In order to be a full-time caregiver, the person needs to have a BSN or Doctor of Nursing Practice. As a part-time caregiver, he or she can be hired as long as the person can take care of the basic needs of the patient. Some requirements for this kind of job are that the applicant must be able to assist the patient with the preparation meals. The person can also perform some housekeeping tasks, such as vacuuming, dusting, changing bedding, preparing meals, dressing wounds, shopping for medications, helping with bathing, etc. In addition to these responsibilities, the applicant should be willing to help in promoting healthcare safety and educating patients and their families about taking proper care of the elderly.

However, if a person chooses to be a full-time caregiver, he or she will be required to have a social security number, Medicaid, Medicare or other federal benefits, and CPR or First Aid training. Other information that is required for a part-time caregiver are medical insurance and passport. To be eligible for this kind of job, it is important to be self-employed and have a license to work in your chosen profession. There are also requirements that an applicant must pass before being hired for the position.

An applicant who wishes to work in a hospital, nursing home or other long-term care facility must first obtain a Driver's License (DOB) from the Department of Public Safety and Security. The DOB contains a photograph, signature, and the applicant must meet other state and local requirements. A registered vehicle is required along with a valid passport and a valid identification card. The driver may also be required to have his or her own insurance policy in order to drive at home care homes. Once the application is completed and approved, the applicant is mailed a copy of their certificate and a card with a photo.

Whether you provide a live-in personal care home, senior care, disability aids or whatever else you decide to do, you will be providing a service for those who need it the most and it is important to remember that this type of business will not make you a millionaire.
