Buy in Bulk and Save in Bulk Too
Who doesn’t need a 48-bottle case of sriracha sauce, 50,000 baseball cards, or eight pounds of marshmallows? It may be difficult to sort through all the bulk on Amazon or piling the walls of your local Idaho Costco. However, if you buy the right bulk items in the right way, you may save a lot of money in the future.
You don’t want to return to your local Idaho elementary schools (or wherever you learned fractions), but the most important calculation when shopping in bulk is price per unit. Compare cost per unit on bulk items against the normal cost per unit when sold singularly. The aim of bulk shopping is getting the cost per unit as low as possible.
It may seem tempting to buy five huge jars of spicy mixed nuts in the Costco aisle, but make sure you have tried the nuts first. Buying in bulk is an investment of sorts, and you don’t want to take out a payday loans for some snack that’s just going to get stale.
Another rule of bulk shopping is to avoid perishable goods unless you have concrete plans to use them soon (say a big neighborhood BBQ or a wedding). The last thing you want is your fridge smelling like rotting spinach. Make sure you have the storage space for the goods as well.
While making bulk purchases in Idaho or elsewhere, don’t forget about coupons. Often, coupons are given on bulk items, so make sure to sort through them before heading to the store. Coupons may help you space out your bulk shopping too. Payday loans here or there can help you, but you want to spread out your debt evenly across time.
It may be smart to get together with a group of other bulk shoppers, be it friends, family or your friendly Idaho neighbors. This way you can get the deal, but not have to worry about using everything before it goes bad or spending too much money. You can save your payday loans for something more special than toilet paper.
You might even want to consider getting an annual membership to a warehouse store like BJs, Costco or your local Sam’s club. Although you have to pay around $45 annually, you can easily make this money up by saving on food purchases. Take out payday loans if need be and get the membership.
If you’re still having trouble with your bulk list, the best things to buy in bulk include but are not limited to: cereal, toilet paper and towels, vitamins, diapers, soap and shampoo, office supplies and detergent. Happy bulk shopping, savers!
