Waterloo Bridge
Waterloo Bridge commands one of the best views of London that can be found at ground level. Due to its wide expanse and bend, it allows crossers to see Westminster, the London Eye, Canary Whalf and the City of London all from one place. Opened in 1817 as a toll bridge, it was named after the British victory at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 and went on to become a sense of inspiration for poets, such as Thomas Hood, and painters, such as John Constable and Claude Monet.
The first bridge was demolished and another was designed and constructed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Due to the Blitz, the Waterloo Bridge was badly bomb-damaged and was only partially opened in 1942, with it being completed three years later. It is a great place to stop and take in the scenery.

It started in a baker’s house in Pudding Lane in 1666 and took 3 days to finally be distinguished. There was minimal loss of life but a huge loss of houses, businesses and even St Paul’s Cathedral. Sir Christopher Wren, who famously designed the St Paul’s Cathedral we know today, was given the task of commemorating this colossal event and the Monument was opened in 1677. Its design is inspired by classical architecture and it comprises of 311 steps that take visitors onto a viewing platform where they can take in a panoramic view of the city. It is a beautiful yet poignant reminder of the Great Fire.
Primrose Hill
Primrose Hill quite simply has the most spectacular view of London, with six protected viewpoints that allow you to see almost a complete skyline of the city.
