And also, why would anyone would dislike it? This is the chosen color by the Almighty for creating all the major things, be it entrancing sky or the vast water bodies. This is one of the few colors that human eyes can see for very long and not getting tired of. Finding an Original Blue Topaz is quite tough; hence this is very rare and costly. Mining of this magnificent gemstone is mainly done in the Ural Mountains of Russia. There are a number of theories about the origin of this gemstone’s name. Some believe that the name Topaz was derived from a Latin word Topazus and some believe it was taken from an old French word Topace. In India, it is believed that the name Topaz came from a Sanskrit word Tapas, which literally means heat or fire of the Sun, as per the appearance of the Yellow Topaz.


Though this gemstone is considered to be a semi precious gemstone, the Blue Stone Topaz price can at times match the costs of many precious stones. All this depends upon the cut, clarity and the color of this gemstone. As it is rarely found, a number of Topaz gems of gray, yellow and pale blue color are heat treated to produce darker shades of Blue Topaz. These gems are quite hard as they give a score of 8 out of 10 on the Moh’s Scale of hardness.
