Italy is one of the most astounding countries with a profound cultural heritage. It is also the one most visited by the tourists from across the globe. When one is planning for cheap weekend breaks, this is a perfect choice. There is a whole lot of choice to select from the cities in Italy to make your holidays a memorable one. Here are a few to make your selection easier.

MILAN

Milan is one of the most ancient cities in Europe. Loved by the foodies and shopaholics, this city has much to offer to its guests. This city is the most expensive suburb with National Stock Exchange and industrial powerhouse and also possesses the finest transport systems in the whole country. The largest airport in Italy is situated in Milan and it has two international airports, both situated 30 miles from the city.

VENICE

If one wishes to see the stunning beauty of Italy, Venice is the place. Must see places in Venice is Piazza San Marco located at the bosom of the city, the imposing Saint Mark’s Basilica, Palazzo Ducale and the Rialto Bridge. There are also numerous palaces, museums and churches that are enough to keep culture vultures engaged while sauntering along the sides of the canal or swaying swiftly in a Vaporetto (water taxi). Apart from this Milan has vivacious squares, traffic-free streets, and artistic artefacts. The famous Venice Carnival lures a large number of visitors to the city every year.

ROME

With Rome comes up images of massive sculptures, grand stone lions, classical ruination, graceful fountains and much more to explore from the lip-smacking Roman cuisine and shopping areas to the impressive Rome Opera House. People come here to experience throbbing nightlife and outstanding dining styles along with spectacular sights of Saint Peter’s Square and the Vatican City. The most visited time during the year is the spring and autumn season. So, while planning for cheap city breaks to Rome, these seasons should be kept in mind.

TURIN

One of the major industrial and traditional hubs of Italy is Turlin. It is an exceptionally beautiful city, with stoned streets, shady arcades, smart shops and striking Baroque architecture. The people with religious temperament visit the city to see the cathedrals and the rare sight of Shroud of Turin. The streets of Turin are lined with classy chocolate shops and the city also hosts an annual chocolate festival (Cioccolato) when the streets are packed with chocolate sellers. 

VERONA


Verona hosts the splendid Opera festival, for which it is most famous. Other attractions of Verona are the Castle Complex, Roman Amphitheatre and splendid Cathedral. The colourful street market at Piazza Delle Erbe is the most ancient square recorded in Verona, where one can also find the Madonna Verona fountain to marvel at and other graceful historical monuments. Verona is loved by foodies. This is a hub of delicious delicacies and numerous dining options. The common food that is eaten here is Piperita(beef with peppered cheese sauce) and Pastisada de Caval (horse stew). Verona is also famous for its wines. They should be tried for sure, when on holidays to Rome and Verona.
