Best CBD Oil for Dogs

by Patrick B. Digital Marketing SEO Advertising Social Media
Finding the best CBD oil for your dog can be confusing and uncertain. Trying to do research to find the best option produces thousands of companies and articles. Finding an unbiased opinion is near impossible, but now you are in luck!

Human CBD vs Dog CBD

I personally have 3 dogs and use CBD for my oldest pooch, who has immune deficiency issues. Going to the vet, they recommended extremely expensive medications that weren't guaranteed to work. They told me that the only thing they could do was administer this potentially lethal medication for a period of a few months with hopes of only subsiding the symptoms he's been having. I didn't see that as a very promising option to pursue, so I looked elsewhere.

I've personally taken CBD myself, and swear by its natural ability to just WORK. I have always taken full spectrum gel caps as its suspended in CBD oil, and CBD and the other cannabidiols are fat soluble by nature. Isolates are not naturally occurring and don't seem to have any effect.

Type of CBD

With that CBD knowledge already, I decided to give CBD a try for my dog. I typically take 25mg or 50mg gel caps. Most CBD stores or articles you read want you to give your dog CBD treats, which are extremely weak. Most are 10mg or less of actual CBD, but are extremely expensive. Not worth the money, save it for something that will actually work.

CBD Dosage

My dog is only 27lbs and I give him a full 25mg full spectrum gel cap daily. It relaxes him and he has dramatically less symptoms. I sometimes give him a second dose later on at night.

It should be given with food, so I wrap the gel cap in a turkey slice and give it to him that way. Dogs love meat, and this is the best way to give it to any dog in my opinion. The oil needs to absorb into their system, and giving it with food is the most effective way to administer it.

Oil vs Capsules/Gel Caps

If your dog doesn't fuss much about food, you may opt for a regular CBD oil or CBD tincture, which is just as strong. Just make sure its full spectrum and isn't a low mg. Most CBD products are deceiving because they list the entire package or bottle's total content on the front, where each piece or droplet may only contain a miniscule amount of CBD. With the gelcaps or even capsules, you can assure that the dosage is right where you need it to be.

How long does CBD take to kick in?

Keep in mind, dogs process food and supplements a bit differently than humans as they have a different digestive system. With that said, dosages may seem high for a small dog but they typically take the same amount of dose as a full size human.

Once you administer the CBD to your dog, it may take up to 2 hours to kick in as their digestive system is very slow. If given with food and water, the process is quicker to hit their system and it won't cause potential stomach upset.

Where to buy CBD for your dog?

There are some great resources out there for CBD gel caps (CBD oil) and capsules (powder). One of my favorite sources is Green City Direct, they have the softgels as well as the capsules available for a reasonable price. Check them out here: CBD capsules for dogs

Obviously there are hundreds of places to buy CBD for dogs, but its important to find something that will actually work for your pooch. Shop around or message us if you have questions. We'd be happy to recommend or review other stores and provide our feedback.
