not preferred in fasting.
Significance of sendha namak in fasting
Also known as saindhava in Ayurveda, sendha namak is given
preference over regular table salt for several reasons.
Sendha namak is the pursed form of salt that unlike regular table
salt does not go through any chemical processing, and thus is free from
environmental pollutants. Foods consumed during fasting should not be stomach
heavy and have mild effects on the digestive system. Owing to great laxative
and cooling properties that regular salt does not have, sendha namak is
considered safe for consumption during fasting. Being low in sodium and high in
potassium, it keeps the body cool from the inside and maintains the balance of
fluids (electrolytes) without disturbing the blood pressure levels.
