by Philip Smith Inbound Marketing Manager

People nowadays spend a lot of money in designing and building their bathroom. They spend a great amount of time in bathroom on a daily basis too. With that said, it makes perfect sense that there should be no space for mistakes in your bathroom design.

And you should focus on that right from the beginning. This article aims to highlight some of the common tile installation mistakes, and encourages you to avoid them in your bathroom –

Not Putting Plastic Sheet on a Sand Bed before Placing Tub.

While installing tub in your bathroom, it is crucial that you place plastic or fiber glass pan over a bed of sand mix. By doing so, you give your valuable tub a dependable support. This helps prevent the tub from cracks apart from stopping its movement.

It demotes the chances of leakage and early renovation.

In addition, placing a plastic sheet makes tub removal easier and quicker without any possibility of damages, if there is a need in future.

Not Using Silicone for Soft Joints around the Corners.

Many tile placers use grout the tile joints near the edges and corners. However, they should be left unfilled or filled with silicone and turned into soft joints. We all know that tiles expand and shrink as the weather changes. Turning joints into soft joints or expansion joints will help avoid cracking during summer.

Building Under-Shower Bench by Penetrating into the Wall and Tile/Stone.

This is a major mistake most homeowners and tile placers make. When you penetrate into stone/tile, it affects the quality or level of waterproofing in bathroom.

There are ways (such as with the help of structural foam), you can build benches and racks in your bathroom without making any holes into your wall or floor. And they are equally durable.
