7 Crucial Mistakes to Avoid When Renovating Your Bathroom

by Jessica Thomson Expert Blogger

When you’re planning to renovate your bathroom, the first step is to prepare a plan. Even with a roadmap, the remodelling can be a disaster. This usually happens if you’re too lax with the plan. Apart from sticking to it, you should also select sinks, commodes, shower area or a bathtub along with other modern bathroom vanities carefully. This is because they are major and can make or break the aesthetics. To learn about other crucial mistakes and avoid them, keep reading this post.

1.       Spending a lot of money

Renovations can be expensive, but there is a way you can control the amount with a well-structured budget. This can guide you in buying the bathroom furnishing, essentials, flooring and other things within your spending capacity. If you don’t prepare a budget, then you will end up wasting a lot of money.

2.       Insufficient storage

A bathroom is a place to store all your bathroom essentials like towels and toiletries. That’s why making areas with sufficient storage is important. So, where do you begin? Start by buying a suitable vanity that occupies a major portion of the room. After making a selection, you can move ahead with other wall units in case you need more storage areas.

      3.       Not considering the bathroom layout

You should always consider the bathroom layout during the remodelling process. For instance, if you haven’t followed the layout, then you can face problems installing the commode or reaching the sink. That’s why sticking to the plan is of utmost importance.

4.       Hiring a novice

When you’re hiring a professional to renovate your bathroom, you should check his/her credibility. Ask about their years of experience in the industry and to look at their portfolios.

5.       Mismatched fixtures

Bathroom fixtures should provide a feeling of continuity in the decor. A mismatched bathroom will look chaotic.

6.       Dull lighting

You need to strike a balance when opting for lighting fixtures. This is because you shouldn’t be selecting very bright or very dim lights. Go for something in between. For instance, one or two sconces or spotlights above the vanity are enough. But if you like grandeur, then you can select a chandelier and place it above a bathtub.

7.       Improper ventilation

Ventilation plays a major role when it comes to bathrooms. You should invest in a fan that can run while you are in the shower. By doing so, you can reduce condensation and prevent damped walls. If you have a window in this area, it can be an additional benefit.

These are some of the mistakes that should be avoided when you’re revamping the appearance of your bathroom. Even though you will not conduct the job, be in contact with the expert doing the work to avoid trouble. This way, you can also save your time and money needed to rectify mistakes.
