Are you looking for Earthquake-resistant houses?
According to a report submitted by Building
Materials Technology Promotion Council (BMPTC) in September 2016, more than 90%
of the residential projects in India are vulnerable to earthquakes in different
degrees. In their report (Earthquake hazard zoning maps), BMPTC’s executive
director, Sailesh Agarwal, said that our country currently holds around 304
million households (tehsil) out of
which more than 95% of the houses are not earthquake resistant. As requested by
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), BMPTC prepared color coded maps
which shows how the five zones of our country are susceptible to earthquakes
and to what degrees. They used all the data available with the Survey of India,
Geological Survey of India, Meteorological Department and Census of India.
A recent research suggests that more than
30 Indian cities, including Delhi and Mumbai lie in a high-risk seismic zone. Carefully
planned and monitored by visionary architects, KGK infrastructure’s recent residential Project in jaipur,
The Oasis, offers earthquake resistant apartments in the heart of the city. To
ensure proper safety of your property in test of times, below are a few
pointers you need to look at:
-
Find a trusted builder with a
good reputation before investing in a property.
-
BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards)
have set criteria for buildings in different earthquake prone zones. Make sure the
project you are investing in has a ‘structure certificate’. You can request for
the certificate copies from the builder. The Oasis offers Plots
in bagru jaipur, with structure that meets B.I.S. standards.
-
Consider insuring your house.
If your house lies in an earthquake prone zone, get your property insured as
they cover structural damage for damage via natural calamities.
-
Ensure that your building has enough
emergency exits and disaster management system
-
Always have an emergency
evacuation kit handy. It should be
accessible to every member of the house.
Real estate is one of the major industries
affected by earthquakes most of the times. Follow the above tips to ensure
complete safety of your property against earthquake.
