Are Roads Bound to See More Auto Fatalities in 2015?
Have you noticed anything unusual on the daily commute to and from Provo, Utah? It’s not the freeway construction or the number of traffic jams along Interstate 15 (although extremely frustrating). The answer could be the rising number of auto accident fatalities on the roads of America.
Newsweek recently reported, “The United States is on track to have its deadliest traffic year since 2007, the National Safety Council says.” The same report informed that 19,000 people were killed from automotive accidents between January and June of this year, a 14 percent increase compared to the same time frame in 2014. This alarming statistic keeps any injury lawyer busy, but it’s time to plummet the number of fatalities.
Utah’s Contribution
In a statistical report produced by the National Safety Council, fourteen states showed a decrease in automotive deaths since 2014. Unfortunately, Utah was not among them. Drivers from Logan to Provo have increased the number of fatal crashes for the month of July by seven compared to July 2014, reported Zero Fatalities.
If each subsequent month results in seven lives taken on the roads of Utah, 84 more lives could be lost by the end of the year than in 2014. Auto accident prevention can save Americans from needing the guidance of an injury lawyer, but more importantly, it will keep neighbors, friends and family alive.
Tips for Safe Driving
Whenever you are behind the wheel of a vehicle, be cautious and alert to your surroundings. Always practice safe driving habits, such as silencing cellular devices when driving and letting dangerous road rage bite the dust. Furthermore, never put yourself or passengers at risk when driving by ensuring that all seat belts are securely fastened.
Pledge to keep the streets from Provo to the East Coast free from any auto accident requiring the legal aid of a lawyer. Only by practicing safe driving practices can the trend of rising road fatality statistics be turned.
