Anchorage length of steel bar
The phrase “anchorage length of steel bar” is often used in engineering works, which refers to the total length load-bearing rebar stretching into base anchor plate or
foundation, includes the length of straight part and bended part. If
the anchorage length of steel bar is not long enough, rebar would not
effectively transfer stress to anchorage. So, the anchorage length
should be not less than 200mm to ensure stress conveying effect.
Rebar anchorage means to cover rebar into concrete, reinforce the connection of concrete and rebar, therefore make the construction more solid. People will figure out the anchorage length through a formula when carrying on concrete structure design. The formula includes “rebar appearance parameter” which would changes according to different rebar types, such as plain rebar, ribbed rebar, indented wire, spiral wire, pc strand etc. Combined with anchoring method, thickness of concrete etc., people can get the actual anchorage length.
