Aluminum Composite Panel Installation Overview

Aluminum can be found everywhere in the construction world, from bridges to commercial buildings. Its high strength to weight ratio makes it beneficial to the industry. Another advantage of aluminum besides its durability and strength is its low maintenance requirements.

ACP has a great resistance to corrosion and climate. With a creative designer, it can result in an aesthetically pleasing façade and even replicate the color and texture of natural stone and wood, among others. 

It can be easily installed too. However, you cannot make the most of these advantages if ACP is not installed properly.

Here are a few things worth knowing about it.

When installing, make sure that there’s no contaminants (not even fingerprints) on the surface. A clean surface is essential to make sure that the adhesive and the panel will stick properly.

 

Establish an area that is conducive for work. It should be free from dirt and dust. You need the adhesive to bond strongly to the surface it contacts. 

Uneven alignment is one of the things that can be seen right away if ACP is not installed properly. To make sure that there’s consistency, use proper-sized shims between the panel.

Composite panels are prone to gaps which result in water leaks. To have watertight joints, the installer should start at the eaves and work their way up the slope to the ridge. The same process should be applied on the adjacent panel. 

When we  say details, it is not only about the installation process itself. This also includes the quality of the materials used.  The installer should also use the appropriate adhesive. All walling systems, including cladding or lining, should be installed in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendation.
