All You Need to Know About Multi-Line & Multi Point Lubrication Systems

by Crazzy Paul Digital Markting Professional
A lubrication system delivers a controlled amount of lubricant at several locations in a machine while it is operating. There are various types of automatic lubrications systems like single line and dual line lubrication system, chain lube lubricating system, oil recirculating system, etc. Here in this article, we will be looking into multi-line lubrication systems and multi point lubrication systems, their uses and applications.

Multi-Line Lubrication System:
These lubrication systems comprise of the below mentioned components:
  • pump unit
  • control and motoring devices
  • tubing
  • fittings

Multi-line pumping units deliver lubricant to points in a machine not having surplus metering dividers. Hence, every lubrication point will have its own element to pump into. Such a design in a system amounts to greater accuracy, simplicity and more reliability. The pumps can be mechanically, hydraulically or electrically actuated. An eccentric cam is usually used to operate pumping elements with exchangeable flexibilities. The range of deliverance is determined by gearbox ratio, drive speed and certain element sizes of a pump. For a pump outlet, individual setting of lubrication volume is possible through the selection of pumping elements having different stroke setting or piston diameter. The number of pump outlets can potentially range from 1 to 30.

Applications & benefits of Multi-Line Lubrication Systems:
The various advantages of this type of system are:
  • Sturdy as the pumps are manufactured to operate 24/7.
  • Versatile with selective characteristics of pump and reservoir sizes
  • Simple being devoid of timers of electrical cycles

Applications include the following:
  • Multi-Line Oil Systems with wide viscosity range and relatively smaller clearance of piston. Also consists of vacuum pumps as well as compressors.
  • Multi-Line Grease Systems in which heaters are not needed because of their wide viscosity range and built-in stirrers.

Multi-Point Lubrication Systems:
Such automatic lubrication systems are designed for re-lubrication of a number of lubrication points simultaneously and reliably. The multi-point lubrication system is sturdy and compact and comes as an all in one kit, having connectors and tubing all included in the kit. This system is built to supply to 1 to 18 lubrication points, wherein there are pluggable outlets in the TLMP lubrication series. This series comes with LED display along with a keypad. The system comprises of a 1 litre reservoir and a stirring paddle which prevents the separation of grease.

Applications & benefits of Multi-Point Lubrication Systems:
The advantages of using a multi-point system are:
  • Easy program installation
  • Complete kit
  • Machine steering through removal of power
  • Malfunction alarm
  • Remote notification

Applications include the following:
  • Any kind of industrial application
  • Extreme weather conditions requiring a robust and automatic system for lubrication
  • Chain lubrication
  • Rail and rolling stock
  • Waste water management
