Advanced Materials and Technology -A Double-Edged Sword

Advanced materials, or enhanced materials, have upgraded properties that can improve the performance of ordinary products and processes. They play an important role in the existence and daily performance of human life, affecting the environment, communities and the economy. For example, advanced metal materials can expand the transition to more environmentally friendly technologies with enhanced characteristics and improved performance. At the same time, advanced materials are the core element leading the development and growth of the industry, because job opportunities are created in this field. Most advanced materials are environmentally friendly, including advanced ceramics, rare earth materials and deposited materials.

Advanced Materials-Ceramics

Advanced ceramics, as a representative of advanced materials, have high heat resistance and wear resistance. These materials play important requirements in the manufacturing of electronics, telecommunications, defense, and space exploration. Ceramic metal emits carbon dioxide and water during use; it is non-toxic, non-flammable and environmentally friendly. These materials are completely decomposed in the range of 220-350 degrees Celsius, which is 100 degrees Celsius lower than the decomposition temperature of other ordinary materials. Ceramics have excellent green toughness and can be made into final solid products (Zhu, 2018). Ceramics are lighter, and this feature makes them the best materials for aerospace design and production. These materials help make fast military jets; these allow for larger payloads on the aircraft and even increase the speed of these military jets. The use of these items improves the efficiency and quality of human life.

Advanced Materials-Rare Earth Materials

The second example of advanced materials is the rare earth materials. Rare earth alloys are used in the manufacture of computer hard drives, rechargeable batteries, mobile phones, magnets and fluorescent lamps (Bielawski, 2020). Over the years, there has been an increasing demand for commodities that require rare earth materials in their production. Mobile phones are our key project. 30 years ago, only a few people owned mobile phones, but now billions of people own mobile phones. Rechargeable batteries constitute rare earth metals among the elements used in their production, and the increase in the number of mobile phones has led to an increase in demand for this metal. The batteries contain several pounds of rare earth compounds; these batteries power hybrid cars. This kind of hybrid car reduces the cost of people buying gasoline; this applies to people who own a hybrid car. Some of these vehicles use these batteries to store energy because they can be charged to power themselves, thereby increasing human efficiency and reducing driver work. Compared with decades ago, the use of rare earth metals have improved the way of life of human beings.

Advanced Materials- Deposition Materials

Finally, deposition materials are also advanced materials that enable society to prosper by performing various functions. The development of visible layer applications is endless, and the continuous development of deposition materials and processes is required. This coating operation can be applied to a variety of basic elements, including ceramics, metal alloys, and glass (Demir, 2018). The deposited material can prevent exposure to low and high temperatures and excessive temperature divergence. Technology responds to new regulations for ecological stability, better visual quality, and greater durability. The importance of these coatings includes preventing metal damage. It improves the quality of surface treatment and ensures a permanent layer of the entire part. Depositing materials through these advantages enables individuals to save the cost of repairing corroded metal pipes. It also helped manufacture storage devices that are essential to the manufacture of computer and telephone equipment.

Cybercrime Caused by Technology Advances

Due to the maximum use of advanced materials, technology has improved. Computer technology is one of the advanced projects. It uses ceramics to create more storage and rare earth materials and produce magnets for mortar functions. This improvement has greatly improved people's efficiency. 

Although technology makes our lives easier, advanced technology also has some shortcomings. One of the major problems brought about by technological progress is the increase in cybercrime: these challenges include data security, security violations, cloud data privacy risks, open source software, unauthorized access to mobile payment accounts, and criminals using virtual currency to conduct illegal businesses to avoid being tracked down.

With a large amount of business and personal information being transmitted and stored electronically, due to advanced technology, the data leakage rate is high. Individuals who use computers and mobile phones create large amounts of data every day; these data are collected and commercialized, which brings serious security issues and invasion of privacy. By using our mobile phones, technology provides people with a more direct and faster payment method. If you misplace it, other people can access your account, and only the owner can be held accountable. Finally, as more and more software applications are hosted and accessed in the cloud, security and data privacy are at risk. As the number of programmers increases day by day, cybercrime poses a major threat (Viraja, 2021). Ten years later, the amount of cybercrime may be uncontrollable.

On this basis, I think we should study how to control and restrict the high-level cybercrime activities conducted on computers and telephone equipment, and educate people on how to protect themselves from cyber-attacks. If not observed carefully, cybercrime may cause large-scale destruction; for example, a programmer with a wealth of hacking knowledge may bypass the security system that controls missile launches and wage war. These types of activities are activities that we should pay attention to in order to protect the future of human survival.
