Activities That Awaken The Child Within you!

by Eric Jones Writer
It is a commonly believed that a person's childhood is the best period in his or her life. Children live spontaneously and derive immense pleasure from even the smallest joys of life. However, as people grow up, their thoughts are governed more by reason than by emotion. Their world becomes monotonous and their sense of curiosity begins to diminish. Responsibilities increase and life becomes depressing and boring. Most people keep out the boredom by sitting in front of the idiot box. Other popular pastimes include gossiping, smoking, drinking and mindless consumption of junk food. Does any of this ring a bell?

The truth is that children are happy because they are not prejudiced. They do not have any pre-conceived notions regarding the world and this enables them to savour every moment of life. Sometimes, childish activities can be very beneficial for adults too - they are very cathartic and help to alleviate stress and depression. Mentioned below are a few suggestions that will make you forget your worries and will awaken the child within you!

Adult jumping castles: Jumping castles are child magnets. Children find them absolutely irresistible and delightful! But who said that jumping castles are only meant for children? Adult jumping castles are immense fun - jumping is a means of expressing mirth and glee. It is an act of celebration and victory! It stimulates the brain to release endorphins and makes one feel 'high'. There is something very therapeutic about jumping with exaltation. All adults should try definitely try out jumping castles - they are literally addictive!

Play: When was the last time you engaged in your favourite sport? Children are often seen playing cricket, football, badminton, basketball etc. You too must have played a lot as a child. Do you remember how happy playing made you? Then why have you stopped? Sports are the best form of entertainment - they keep you mentally and physically fit. They are also an excellent way to socialize. So the next time you feel bored - play your favourite sports game instead of lazing on the couch with a bag of chips. Playing in the real world is way more enjoyable than playing games on the internet.

Go to a circus: Sure, you can have access to hundreds of movies for just a few pounds. However, in today's world of films and video games - circuses have actually become a novelty. There is a good chance that you have not been to a circus for many years. It is not something that people generally do - and that is precisely why you should do it! In addition to having a great time - you will make a contribution towards supporting a dying art.

Get wet in the rain: This is a great way to have fun - moreover, it's entirely free! As children, we all danced with joy when it rained. Today, we worry about getting our clothes wet and curse the rain whenever it falls. In the natural world - rain is the symbol of life and rejuvenation. However, it has become a nuisance for most people!

Make paper boats and aeroplanes: Do you even remember how to make a paper boat or an aeroplane? If not, then ask a child. Making something with your own hands gives you a feeling of having created something. You can also try drawing, painting, colouring or whatever else you loved as a child.

The child in us makes us who we are - so make time to interact with your inner child. You live life just once - try to enjoy every moment of it!
