Abaxis Piccolo Xpress Analyzer - For Rapid Point-of-care Testing

by Jeremy Linder Lab Equipment Supplier
The compact Abaxis Piccolo Xpress point-of-care analyzer performs on-site testing very effectively and can store up to 5000 patient and control results on-board.

Point-of-care testing (POCT) also called patient focused testing or bedside testing plays an important role in clinical and research care facilities. Point-of-care analyzers are used to test glucose and cholesterol levels, perform electrolyte and enzyme analysis, pregnancy testing and test for drugs of abuse and infectious diseases. The benefits of using point-of-care devices include – rapid and quick test results, portability, reduced pre-analytic and post-analytic errors, high sample quality, short therapeutic turnaround time and faster implementation of appropriate treatment. The Abaxis Piccolo Xpress is a convenient and compact clinical system that performs on-site testing very effectively.

Piccolo Xpress – Compact System with Advanced Features

The Piccolo Xpress simultaneously checks reagent reactions utilizing nine wavelengths, calculates results from absorbance information, and reveals the results. It is equipped with easily understandable color touch screen commands that permit healthcare providers to quickly carry out everyday multi-chemistry. The advanced technology uses capillary and centrifugal forces to mix diluent, reagents and sample in a self-contained, disposable disc lessening opportunities for procedural errors.

The portable and lightweight analyzer can store up to 5000 patient and control results on-board. A small footprint measures 32.4 cm (12.75 in.) x 15.2 cm (6 in.) x 20.3 cm (8 in.). The lab equipment self-calibrates with every run. Onboard iQCT (Intelligent Quality Control) scrutinizes the sample and performs continuous QC checks during the complete analytical process to ensure accurate results. The result, along with a report (hard copy) is fully ready in just about 12 minutes. The result can be transferred to a printer, LIS/EMR, or computer providing vital diagnostic details quickly at the point of care. No special training is needed to operate this low maintenance system. Some of its important features include –

* Portable and lightweight with carrying handle only weighs 11.2 pounds

* Peer reviewed studies support performance

* Operator security capabilities limit non-user entry

* Bidirectional communication USB ports transmit data to external peripherals.

* Bar coded self-contained reagent discs are self-calibrating and monitors panel information

* Multi- analyte panel results include alpha-numeric patient information, analyte concentrations, reference ranges, sample integrity indices and QC performance

Ensure Purchase from a Reliable Supplier

Purchasing Abaxis Piccolo Xpress point-of-care analyzer from an established laboratory equipment supplier would offer many benefits. Leading suppliers have online stores where you can view images and understand the features and technical specifications of the analyzer you wish to purchase. In addition, reliable dealers would ensure competitive pricing and superior post-sales support for installation and maintenance.
