What is Aadhar card?
Aadhar card was a document that came into existence a few years back in India. It was set-up as a Unique Identity card that would identify each citizen and accord him/her status as a citizen of India. It is different from most other Government enrolment schemes and forms in the fact that it is completely free and voluntary.
Why Aadhar card?
Aadhar card was started as a program because there was a need for a documentation system that provides the government with a means to profile their citizens and provide for them in a better way after studying the ensuing logistics and statistics through the Aadhar card. A 12 digit number is issued to each citizen that applies and the citizen’s details can be accessed by punching in this number. Also government launch a new campaign of Epic Aadhar Seeding under which voters in India have to link their voter ids with their aadhar card and this process is to avoid the fraud voters in Indian Elections.
How to apply for Aadhar card?
Aadhar card can be applied for at the Unique
Identification Authority of India’s office. They have an online portal as well
that will help you regarding your queries about Aadhar card and its process.
You will have to fill out a form at the government appointed aadhar centre. You
can book an appointment online and then reach the centre at the designated time
slot. The officials at the centre will promptly start by noting down your
thumbprint, height, weight etc. This will all be calibrated on the spot and
feed into your Aadhar card.
If your
locality is not present in the list of the Aadhar enrolment centre then you
will have to go the nearest centre with you residence or address proof and age
proof. Further instruction shall be provided to you by the officials.
The aadhar card is only issued after a number of quality checks are performed. The enrolment agency will then send your details to the unique identification authority of India and after they have processed and verified your details, your aadhar card can be procured.
Your Aadhar
card will work as a valid proof of various things like your address, age,
residence etc. You can submit it whenever proof of any kind is required. The
passport office has now included Aadhar card as a required document for
verification of a citizen’s citizenship and identity..

proofs or else your request for an Aadhar card won’t be processed.
The
Government of India decided to bring the Aadhar card into being so that the
citizens of India could avail of certain benefits by just showing their card
and letting their Unique Identity Number being jotted down for official
purposes.
