There are dozens of smartphones that you have to look into before buying one today. Phones changed when they turned into smartphones. They are not devices only to send messages and receive calls – they are much more than that. Looking at the first smartphones that were unveiled to the world and those of 2016 gives a clear picture of how smartphones have become so much better with time. Despite all these amazing improvements, there are certain features on smartphones that continue to be a challenge for smartphone makers. They are amazing features but doing them right is often the challenge. Here are some of them:

Camera Hump

Smartphone companies are constantly trying to make their smartphones thin. Apple is the company with the strongest stress on this particular feature. However, in an attempt to make the phone thinner, they run out of space to fit the camera setup without putting a hump on the back of the phone. The hump is one of the most hated things on smartphones. If you don’t like the big camera hump, keep it in mind when buying the phone.

Speaker Location

Speaker location matters a lot if you are someone who works in noisy environments and needs his/her ringtone to be loud. What if you can’t hear your loudest Tamil ringtone from your phone just because its speaker is located at the bottom and has been muted by the fabric of your pocket? A speaker located on the bottom or on the back can be easily muted with your palm or fingers when you are playing a game in landscape mode. When you are buying your phone, look for front facing speakers.

Inferior Battery

Every smartphone has a battery on it but they don’t all have the best batteries. Battery department remains one of the most criticized by users. When you buy a smartphone, make sure you have read enough reviews to know about its battery time. A big battery does not always mean good battery time. Software optimization and the processor technology have a huge impact on battery life on smartphones.

Flimsy Fingerprint Scanner

While fingerprint scanner is an amazing and more like a necessary feature today, not all smartphone manufacturers are able to incorporate it the best way. The fingerprint scanner on any phone should be good enough to recognize your finger even when it is dirty or scratched a bit. Make sure you research the smartphone you are buying and read reviews about its fingerprint scanner. An inferior fingerprint scanner will not register your fingerprint 2 times out of 10.

The Not-White Whites

Lastly, no matter how bright your screen gets, your display needs to get white right. There are many smartphones out there competing for the brightest display. However, when you put them against phones that might not be as bright as them, you still like the less bright display better. This is because there is a huge difference in color reproduction. On many of these screens, white looks very off white, green or red.
