Aadhar Card: A Flawless System of Identity Proof

An Aadhar card is better defined as a unique identification that is issued to Indian residents. With lifetime validity, this card contains a 12-digit number which is mainly based on factors including biometric data and demographics of each citizen. Likewise, the card consists of f iris scans, finger prints, and a photo to ensure detailed identification. Officially, the aadhar card is considered to be a secured document for residents of India.

Historically, the Aadhar card project was initiated as a way to store essential and unique information for each resident and establish their identity and citizenship status. In most cases, these cards are as important as a PAN Card and can be used as an identity proof too. An Adhar card is also acceptable as a part of the required documentation for investment purpose while it is only compatible with a certain range of machines that can read it all, such as biometric devices.

Unique Identification Authority of India

The Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI is the legal body for the Aadhar card which was established in 2016 with a focus to introduce a transparent and efficient governing system in the country. The UIDAI website has a useful tool under the Aaduar enrolment tab where you can enter your number printed on the acknowledgment slip and check aadhar status. Similarly, you can download or print the PDF version of your card from the website and use it as e-Aadhaar form which is equally accepted everywhere. However, it is not possible to get your card made online as it is a one-time physical procedure that is only done at an Aadhaar enrolment center.

Documents Required For Aadhar Card

Aadhar card is obtainable for any citizen of India whether they are adults, minors or newborn babies. Moreover, non-resident Indians and foreigners living in India for more than one year can also apply for the card. In order to obtain an Aadhar, you basically need two sorts of documents such as POI (proof of identity) and POD (proof of address). Both of these documents must demonstrate genuine identity through birth certificate, PAN Card, Indian passport, ration/PDS card, voter identification card, and driving license.

Lastly, Aadhar cards are obtainable at very early stage in life since it can even be issued to a newborn baby.
