A Crash Course on the Difference Between Car and Semi-truck Accidents

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

Auto accidents are devastating and unfortunately common. The difference between regular auto and semi-truck accidents is the severity. Most of the time, semi-truck accidents are much more dangerous and often times fatal. Semi-truck accidents are 50 percent more likely to be fatal than other vehicle collisions.

On highways like Parley’s Canyon in Utah, where there is heavy semi-truck traffic, it is imperative that you drive safely and know the dangers of semi-truck collisions.

Common causes of semi-truck accidents, like ones we see in windy canyons and highways in Utah include fuel fires, brake malfunction or failure or rollovers.

Considering the size difference between an 18 wheel semi-truck and any other typical car you see on the road, it is easy to assume that an accident between the two can be very detrimental. If you have ever known someone who has been in an accident involving a semi-truck, you know that this is a very messy and emotional situation.

Many times, in cases of very serious injury or in a case where a family member dies in a collision with a semi-truck, the individual or the family of the individual is offered mental and emotional services.

Injuries are the biggest concern when it comes to these auto accidents on Utah highways. Individuals involved in semi-truck crashes can suffer serious injuries that can leave them in the hospital for months, cause permanent damage, or both. Common injuries for people involved in these auto crashes include whip lash, brain damage, broken bones and internal bleeding.

Liability is also issue in these cases. The liability of the accident depends on the situation as well as the trucking company or manufacturer. Talking to a lawyer is the best way to sort this out and take the necessary steps to getting back on track.

According to the accident law advice website, “The law permits you to seek recovery after an accident; the central concept is that you should be compensated in a manner that places you back in the same position you were before the accident.”

No matter what the situation, whether it is a semi-truck collision in a Utah canyon or on a road trip to the West Coast, it is good to be aware of the risks, details and aftermath of these devastating situations. Although the person driving the vehicle can’t always prevent something like this from happening, being an aware and cautious driver can decrease your chances of being a victim of one of these fatal crashes.
