A Brief and Interesting Overview about Dental Implant Procedures in Snellville

by Allen Rose Doctor

Dental implants have become the treatment of choice for replacing lost or missing teeth. When carried out under proper surgical technique and equipment then the success rate have surpassed 95% due to incredible technological development and advances in dentistry with the last decade.

Implants are manufactured devices that are precisely placed surgically in the upper or lower jaw, where they function as anchors for replacement teeth. An implant-restored tooth consists of the implant, the abutment and the restoration.

The implant

It is made of titanium and is placed in the upper and lower jawbone.

The abutment

It is made of titanium, porcelain or gold which is attached to the implant with a screw. The part connects the implant to the crown.

The restoration

It is a crown which is usually made of porcelain fused to a metal alloy (PFM) but also could be an all-porcelain or all-metal crown. The restoration is attached either to the abutment or directly to the dental cost.   In addition, the restoration can be screwed or cemented onto the abutment. The screw hole will be completely covered with special restorative materials such as tooth colored filling materials if the crown is screwed the abutment.

What happen during the tooth implant procedures?

Dental implant treatment generally is a three-part process which takes several months to complete.

In first step, the dentist places the implant in the jaw with the top of the implant slightly above the top of the bone. Then he inserts a screw into the implant for preventing gum tissues and other debris from entering the implant.

The gum is secured by covering it approximately from three to six months while the implant fuses with the bone. This process is known as “Osseo integration”.

In the second step, the implant is uncovered and the dentists in Snellville attach an extension, which is called as a “post” to the implant. The gum tissue is then precisely allowed to heal around the post.

In the third and final step, the dentist make a custom artificial tooth, which is known as a “dental crown” of precise size, shape or color that fits and blend with the other teeth. The crown is attached to the implant post once the dental procedure is completed.

How much dental implant costs?

There are no establishment fees, of course, but dental implants costs can start from $800 to $4000 at different dental clinics in Snellville.
