9 Things to Consider When Choosing a Wedding Venue

by Puja Sharma Content Writer

Here are a few things to consider to have a memorable wedding

Location

A wedding can be held in a hotel, a temple, a church or any unconventional beach wedding venues in Goa or Kerala or lounge! However, it is important to consider accessibility for your guests and vendors. Consider a venue that is centrally located to make it convenient for your guests.

Availability

A potential wedding date would be appropriate for your family member and friends. You can consult a priest or a feng shui master for favorable dates before viewing any venue. Booking any venue a month or two months prior in advance will help you avail better deals on packages.

Facilities

Always look out for venues that are exclusive for your wedding, for instance; find a venue with required seating capacity concerned with the guests you are planning to invite and the parking space to accommodate them. Banquet Suite at Zuri offers the entire floor for weddings, and it has VIP and bridal changing rooms on the same floor.

Package

Do a comparison of a few shortlisted wedding packages and what’s included in them, for instance; food courses (lunch & dinner), pre-banquet reception, complimentary tea ceremony set-up, themes, complimentary carpark passes etc. If a guest room is included in the package, find out if the hotel provides F&B credit. F&B credit that allows you to order room service comes in handy.

Food & Beverage

Check with the venue if they’re able to make provisions for dietary requests for vegetarian or halal food or alcohol.

Is it friendly to your budget?

If you’re interested in having a budget-oriented wedding, you may want to look into the number of guests you want to invite. Also, be aware of the payment process and cancellation policies, do not ignore the fine print. If you are holding your wedding banquet at a hotel, check with the venue if final payment can be made on the next day during check-out.

Services

Be aware of the service staff to table ratio, event or banquet managers on duty for the wedding and have a chat with the managers to get an idea on the service attitude of the wedding sales personnel.

Sufficient Parking?

Is there adequate parking for all of your guests? If parking is a problem, find a parking lot available on your wedding date where you can. But again, there are safety concerns too, so if in case the parking space is not sufficient enough make sure you provide a shuttle service at the venue, to keep your guests away from lonely car parks in the wee hours.

Precautions

If a venue has your desired date open, and if you aren’t ready to book, ask if they can place a soft hold or give you a courtesy call if someone else is interested in your date. Take a few days to talk it over with your fiancé and make sure that your financials are doable in the time frame that you have.
