The Benefits Of Patience In Marketing
The Value of Patience in Marketing Marketing is a numbers game. The faster you react, the greater the success that awaits you. While speed is an asset, a very underestimated power is patience in marketing. The marketers who take time to review analytics, to test their efforts, to think outside of the box. An experiment I run on clients (not all will listen) is to send them links to websites that clearly have been hacked, and find them spending more time there than on the front pages of Google or even Facebook! It makes me realize how they check links rather than read them; read everything yet believe nothing.
So I write this article as a reminder of the value of patience. It can often be the vital ingredient to having a long term view in marketing. A long term view is very underrated. Content Marketing Guru Neil Patel said it well in a recent article of his. He named this method of keeping a steady, patient pace. Sustainable Growth. There are several advantages to take with patience in marketing and I will highlight 4.
1. A good brand name won’t be built in a day or over a week. Patients in Marketing. A patient brand is one that is built over time, which is a lot more sustainable than a highly aggressive campaign. Think of it this way. Patience builds trust which takes time. It means that you’ve got to be out there, not shouting, but talking to your target audiences in order to be relevant, build your awareness and then credibility in order to build your authority. It’s one of the hardest things to do, but it’s the best.
2. If we take time in everything that we do, so will our campaigns and results. Waiting patiently in marketing is also good for our campaign and the results that we want. It can take a long time for a campaign or a result to show its true worth. It may be a few weeks or months, but if we take a long time to look at what’s happening, we’ll eventually know when it’s not performing and it will be up to us to then make sure that it doesn’t become another stale campaign.
3. So that’s the first point, that’s when we can be impatient, but I want to add a little more about this point. A brand that is built on a solid foundation and has taken the time to grow will always be a strong one. We need to be patient and build our brand and our reputation. We need to be patient in order to build trust in our brand, we need to be patient in order to build a good business.
4. Patience is very valuable in marketing, but if we don’t take time to look at our results, we won’t be able to see them. We may be able to spot an opportunity, but we won’t know if it’s real until we have seen it in action. This is the same as if we have to look at our results every week or month. 5. Patience is not only about the results, it’s about how we approach the campaign. We need to take time to plan it, we need to take time to look at what we want and what we need to achieve, we need to be patient to see where we’re going and what we need to do to get there. The most important thing is that we take the time to look at our results and see where they lead us.
