Nathan Smith: A Seasoned Executive in Operations, Finance, and Strategy

Nathan Smith is a seasoned executive with a robust background in operations, fund management, financial analysis, and strategic consulting across multiple industries.

He is a co-founder of Rockwater Capital, a boutique asset management firm. In addition to leading the firm, Mr. Smith serves on the boards of several portfolio companies, both public and private, spanning the real estate, technology, and financial sectors. An early investor in digital assets, he currently manages a diverse portfolio that includes cryptocurrencies and the foundational technologies driving the digital asset ecosystem.

Before establishing Rockwater Capital, Mr. Smith held the role of Director and Chief Financial Officer at a large family office group, where he was responsible for deploying strategic capital and providing human resource support to alternative investment funds, family offices, and their associated portfolio companies.

Previously, Mr. Smith served as Managing Director at a private fiduciary firm, overseeing governance, directorship, and trustee services for alternative investment funds and portfolio companies with over $5 billion in net assets. He also held the position of Senior Vice President at a privately held, full-service bank, where he managed the analysis and allocation of a $700 million credit portfolio.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Smith was a Manager at PwC, delivering strategic advisory services to alternative investment clients. He also served four years on active duty in the United States Air Force, where he specialized in deploying IT systems in forward-operating environments and conducting cybersecurity operations, including intrusion detection and penetration testing.

Mr. Smith is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey and holds the TEP designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He earned an M.B.A. in Finance and a B.S.B.A. in Accounting.
