I am not giving you a false hope by saying that we can completely cure kidney failure, but I can assure you that, we can manage its further retrogression. Herbal medicines mentioned in our classical text are like gems, as they have numerous amounts of health benefits on our body.
  • Ayurveda is an ancient healing system which was originated in India over thousands of years ago that focuses on balance of body and mind by considering the “tridosha’s theory” [3 most important energies in the body- vata, pita & kapha] or “panchmahabhut theory”[5essential component for life— akash(sky), vayu(air), agni(fire), jal(water),  prithvi(earth)]
  • According to ayurveda ailment like “kidney failure” occurs only when we don’t do the management at early stage (sanchay phase of dosha) only then disease progress to asadhay vyadhi( difficult to cure) like renal failure. So let’s put some rays of light on usefulness of ayurvedic herbs in managing kidney failure.

Introduction

What is a kidney failure

It is a condition in which functioning & working of kidney got hampered that stop filtration of blood to remove waste products from it.
It is of 2 types:

  • Acute kidney failure- it occurs suddenly and may got cure if treated at early phase.
  • Chronic kidney failure- it occurs due to prolong renal disease or due to diabetes mellitus, hypertension and is generally irreversible.

According to ayurveda- it comes under “Mutravah srotodushti janya vikar(urinary system related disorder)

There is disparity of ‘kapha dosha’ (main energy) along with ‘med dhatu’ (fat tissue) in this leads to blockage of mutravah srotas( urine containing channels) so the working process of excretory organs got hampered that will ultimately leads to renal failure if not treated at the early phase.

Causes

As per Ayurveda it is considered to be a "MUTRAVAH SROTO DUSHTI"(Channels carrying urine deformity)

  • When a person do consumption of water, food and coitus during natural urge of micturition(urination)
  • Suppress his/her urge of micturition deliberately for a longer period of time.
  • When a person is lean thin.
  • Due to external injury to the body.

As per Modern System of Medicine
