The ideal number of eggs to be retrieved y most endocrinologists is 15, though the number varies.  During appointments, the specialists need to check their ovaries and their blood test for hormone levels.

During the egg donation process every donor have to complete medical screening to determine factors like genetic diseases, mental illness or any disorder that can fail to meet their needs with the respective intended parent. Similarly donors who are significantly over or under weight are not being accepted to a program.

Ideally the person is from a fertility clinic or an agency and is familiar with reproductive law to review the agreement between the egg donor and the intended parent(s).

There are no major risks for donors, however, in some cases the common complication of egg donation is ovarian hyperstimulation. The symptoms may remain for some days but overcome with medications.
