5 tips for successful entrepreneurship

1. Know what you consider successful, set goals!
"If you want to be successful, you must know what success is", it is the statement that you should constantly keep in mind. Strange as it may sound, many entrepreneurs do not know when they are successful. And that is a prerequisite for success. But how do you do this?

Think about when your brand is successful. You can do that very well by answering the following question: Where do you want to be in 10 years with your brand? What do you want to have achieved with your brand (e.g. for society)? When you know this, you can set multiple goals for yourself. Divide your goal into several milestones, so you can be focused and work towards achieving them. Hang on to your goals for yourself also turnover targets. For how many euros should you convert per month? And how many products/services should you sell per month?

2. Know why you are there! Think about how people should value you

Find out why you exist and what your company's brand identity is. When you have a clear vision, you will get people who agree with you. They become your company's ambassadors, they believe in what you say. And the more ambassadors you have, the more successful you become.

3. Make a plan to achieve your success!
To be successful, you need a clear focus on where you want to go. When you know where you want to go, it is time to develop a clear plan for yourself. You need a strategy to achieve your goals. Without a strategy you will never be successful.

Design your own strategy by making choices on the following points:

The target group you are going to create value for. This is a group of people who believe in your authentic story and who are prepared to pay for your solution.
The distinctive value you are going to deliver to that target group. Based on the problems and needs of your target group, you respond by being extra valuable for your customers.
The way you are going to reach and convince your customers. Which channels will you use to get your story across to your target group? And how will you turn a stranger into a customer by determining the customer journey?
The relationship that you build with your customers. How are you going to ensure that your customers also really become ambassadors of your brand?

4. Ask for feedback systematically
The most successful entrepreneurs love feedback, lots of feedback. Because a brand is never finished. You want to hear the opinions of others. You want to know what goes well, but especially where you can improve. Make sure you have a number of sparring partners around you. One of the most important sparring partners are, of course, your customers. Keep in constant touch with your customers and hear what they are up against (make sure you know what the problems and needs are) and maybe even more importantly, what they think of your service.

In addition to your customers, it is good to have sparring partners alongside you who can provide you with a different perspective. Your friends and family are important partners in this, but also think about a professional advisor who will continuously support you. This ensures that you are systematically provided with feedback and that you continue to grow!

5. Do not only work in your company, but also on your company (brand)!
And perhaps the most important point of all: Do not only work in your company, but also on your company/brand. Many entrepreneurs are mainly busy with executing assignments, soliciting orders, administration, etc. Of course, these are very important tasks, but you quickly get bogged down in becoming an employee within your own organisation.

It is good to step out of your company at least once a month and work on your brand. You take a look at your strategic choices, you mirror your objectives. You start working on the growth of your brand, etc. Make sure you don't become an employee within your company and let important strategic decisions pass you by. Don't become a Blokker or a V&D. Work structurally on your brand!
