It can be immensely difficult to keep your plants healthy in the hot weather of summer. As the temperature rises, the risk of plant dehydration increases. You have to make sure that all your plants are cool and properly hydrated. There are some easy ways to achieve that. Follow these tips:

  1. Water Your Plants First Thing in the Morning

It is recommended that during the summer you should water your plant before the heat becomes scorching. If you wait until midday or afternoon, when the sun is at its full power, the water will evaporate before it travels to the roots of the plants. You have to make sure that your plants are properly hydrated before the sun starts beating down on them. And if you can’t wake up early to water your plans, you can also water your plants in the early evening, after the sun has started setting.

  1. Use Shade Nets

Many plants cannot endure direct sunlight. It can be damaging to your plants’ health. A green shade net can help you protect your plants from direct sunlight. When you are using a shade net, make sure that it’s several inches above the plants and not touching them. The role of this net is to provide shade to the plants. This ensures that plants are not in direct contact with the sunlight. Ideally, a shade net should block roughly 50% of the sunlight.

  1. Don’t Over-Water

To protect their plants from the scorching heat, many people tend to over-water their plants. This, too, can be dangerous to a plant’s health. Over-watering results in consistent moistening of the soil. This can lead to the development of plant-damaging bacteria. Eventually, it can cause a fungal infection of plants. An easy way to make sure whether or not you should water your plant is by touching the soil. If it’s dry, then you can water the plant.

  1. Don’t Let the Water Collect

There is no possible way to measure every drop of water you give to your plants. It’s normal for you to water your plants excessively. No one wants to over-water their plants, but what should you do in case it happens? Always have a route for draining the excess water outside. If you have pots at home, ensure that the bottoms of the pot have a hole to drain out excess water. If you are a farmer, make sure you carve out a path so that water does not stay in one place.

  1. Do a Round of the Garden/Farm Daily

Plant infections, especially fungal, are difficult to treat. If one of the plants is affected, it will not take long for the infection to spread to other plants. The only way to protect your plants from fungal infections is to prevent them with fungicides. Still, you should do a round of your garden/farm daily to check for infections. If a plant is affected, the affected part should be pruned as soon as possible to stop the spread.

With plants, you have to make sure that you are overseeing them every day. Otherwise, they can develop an infection or be attacked by insects. These tips will ensure your plants are free from any damage in the summers.
