5 differences between Xbox One X and PS4 Pro

by Luther B. Health Writer
Xbox One consoles introduced in the early stage of the 2010s decade proved to be monsters of consoles even if they couldn't come quite as close to power as the PC.

Just like their predecessors, the PS4 and Xbox One received a few hardware revisions, starting with the PS4 Slim and Xbox One S. The final upgrade for the consoles came with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, where both revisions received a full 4K upgrade to not only the video but now for all applicable games.

But there is a lot more than just the 4K upgrade with these revisions. Here are 5 differences between the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. You can also draw your own conclusions for which console will be right for you.

PS4 Pro review: Buy now or wait for the PS5?

1) Design

The Xbox One X comes with a black finish and is much bulkier than the Xbox One S. The PS4 Pro is also bulkier than the PS4 Slim, with another layer added on top of it. Both of these consoles are bulkier since they have more hardware to process much more power.

Some of the ports for the consoles have also been upgraded as well. Here is a short summary of the ports and connections:

Xbox One X - 3x USB 3.0, 1x HDMI 2.0, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, Built-in IR blaster.

PS4 Pro - 3x USB 3.1, Ethernet, PS Camera, Optical Audio output, HDMI 2.0.

2) Storage

Both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro come with a 1 TB Hard Drive storage by default. There is no option for lesser or more. In the event you run out of space on the console, you can connect an external hard drive to store your movies, games, music, and more and access them directly to your console.

3) Performance

As mentioned earlier, both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X comes with full 4K HDR support. It won't matter if you are not using a 4K capable TV so it will cap out at 1080p while still giving you a much more optimal performance.

Both consoles have received upgraded hardware compared to their predecessors. Here is a short summary of what these consoles are capable of:

PS4 Pro - CPU: AMD Jaguar x86-64 @ 2.1GHz 8 cores ; GPU: AMD Radeon @ 911 MHz, 36CUs, 4.2 TFLOP ; 8GB GDDR5 RAM + 1GB RAM

Xbox One X - CPU: Custom CPU @ 2.3GHz, 8 cores; GPU: Custom GPU @ 1.172GHz, 40 CUs, 6.0 TFLOPS; 12GB GDDR5 RAM

The PS4 Pro received an almost four-fold upgrade and the Xbox One X an almost six-fold upgrade. It's no wonder these consoles are bulky!

4) Price

The Xbox One X starts from $499/₹44,900 and the PS4 Pro starts from $400/₹36,900. You can also get bundles of games with these consoles for a slightly higher price and maybe even the same price. That's a deal much better than buying the console alone!

5) Console Features

The Xbox One X and PS4 Pro are not just beastly gaming machines. You can do a lot more with the console such as downloading native apps, watching movies, playing music, and more. You can connect an external hard disk or a USB to transfer compatible files to your device or even play them from the USB directly.

The Xbox One X supports Microsoft Store apps such as Netflix, Spotify, YouTube and much more. You can also do the same with your PS4 Pro although they come in Sony's own native store.

So you can use your console as an all-in-one package where you can watch your favorite movies, videos and your other favorite apps. You cannot connect cable TV to your Xbox One X or PS4 Pro but that's hardly a miss for what you're getting.

Most TVs support up to 1080p resolution but if you own a 4K TV, take full advantage and use these consoles to play games and watch movies in crisp 4K HDR.
