5 Coverage’s My Mexico Travel Insurance Policy Provides My Family & Me!
by West Coast Global Insurance West Coast Global InsuranceAre you planning a trip
to Mexico to experience the country's vibrant culture and relaxed tropical
scenery? A travel insurance policy can provide you peace of mind by protecting
your trip investment. Here are five coverage options your Mexico
travel insurance can provide for
you and your family:
1. Trip Protection
Coverage
Trip protection coverage
will help you if you have paid for tours, hotel stays, or other non-refundable
expenses. For example, if a hurricane hits your Mexico destination and forces
you to reschedule your trip, a trip protection plan will provide you the
investment protection you are seeking.
It is worth mentioning
that trip cancellation coverage is the main benefit of a trip protection plan
however upgrading your coverage to provide (CFAR) Cancel for Any Reason will
provide an additional layer of added protection. Upgrade your policy to include
"cancel for any reason" (CFAR) coverage if you want the most
flexibility in canceling your trip. While CFAR coverage increases the cost of
the policy it is well worth it as we never know what life may present to us and
knowing that if for some reason I am not able to go on the planned trip that I
will be able to re-coup a large % of my non-refundable trip expenses.. A
CFAR claim typically requires you to cancel at least 48 hours before your
scheduled departure, and you will generally receive 50% -75% (not 100%) of your trip cost back.
2. Trip Delay
Coverage
Trip delay coverage
within your Mexico travel insurance policy can reimburse you for the costs of
meals, personal care items, transportation, and hotel stays in case your flight
is delayed due to an inbound flight being canceled. In most cases, inclement
weather conditions are covered under a travel delay claim. It is important to
understand that your flight must have been delayed for a certain period before
you can file a travel delay claim — usually 3 to 12 hours. Only on certain plans
Trip delay can include coverage if you were to be diagnosed with Covid-19 and
not able to board an airplane. Trip Delay protection can cover lodging on the
back end of your trip. (See Plan details for included coverages)
3. Trip
Interruption Coverage
Most Mexico travel
insurance policies include trip interruption coverage if you need to cut your
trip short and head back home due to a covered peril. The coverage kicks in if
you or a traveling partner becomes ill or injured while in Mexico. You may also
be covered if you need to return home due to a family emergency or any
emergency peril stated in your policy. Not only would trip interruption
coverage reimburse you for the cost of booking a new flight, but it would also
reimburse you for any non-refundable unused tours or hotel stays you have
already paid for.
4. Emergency
Medical Coverage
Medicare and many other
U.S. health insurance policies may provide zero or very limited coverage south
of the border. This is why having emergency medical coverage in your travel
insurance is so important. Not only will this coverage help you avoid paying
out-of-pocket medical fees and scrambling to find suitable hospitals or
doctors, but your insurance provider can also dispatch an air ambulance to
evacuate you to a healthcare center that is equipped to treat your injuries.
5. Baggage
Coverage
A comprehensive Mexico
travel insurance plan should include baggage delay and baggage loss coverage.
These coverage’s kick in if your baggage gets misdirected by the airline or your
bags are lost for good.
