5 Benefits of Tinting Your Home Windows

by Kevin Smith Author

It's winter for the time being, but spring is right around the corner. That means in no time, you'll be enjoying hot summer days in Thousand Oaks, and all the outrageous AC bills that go with it. There are, however, some things you can do to cut back on those bills. One of those is upgrading your home's windows with window tinting. Thousand Oaks can get pretty hot in the summer, so here are a few reasons why tinting your windows might be just what you need to cool off.

1. Save Some Money

Window tinting is one of those few home improvements you can make that will actually help you save money. One of the best ways to heat up your home is through your windows. This is great in cooler climates, but your windows can wreck havoc on your monthly air conditioning bills. Window tinting is like putting huge sunglasses on your house. With less sunlight getting in, your home stays cool. This saves you in monthly energy costs while taking some strain off of your HVAC.

2. A More Comfortable Home

While it's great to let the light in on a beautiful day, the sun's glare can negatively impact your quality of light. All that sunlight can make it hard to work, to watch TV, and to whip up a meal in the kitchen. Adding window tinting lets you keep those windows open while cutting down on that irritating glare. Ironically, since you're freer to draw back the blinds on a sunny day, by darkening your windows you're actually brightening your home!

3. Increased Safety

Adding window tinting is like turning all of your windows into safety glass. The tinting holds the glass together, so if — heaven forbid — there should be an accident, your windows will stick together instead of breaking off into deadly shards. This also has the effect of making your windows harder to penetrate by any would-be burglars.

4. Better Curb Appeal

Window tinting simply looks attractive. Darkening your windows has a sophisticated, modernizing affect that makes your whole house look newer and just a bit fancier.

5. A Little Privacy

Sometimes you want to open up your house without giving your neighbors a show. Tinting lets you open up the windows for a little extra sunshine, without putting your home's interiors on full display for all the world to see.

It's reason like these - and several more we don't have space to get around to - that makes window tinting in Thousand Oaks one of the hottest trends in home improvement.
