4 Thought Leaders of the Energy Industry
The renewable energy industry is a fascinating, constantly evolving field. From the design of the first photovoltaic cells to airplanes that can fly across the country using only solar power, renewable energy is relentlessly chasing forward progress.
Every trade has its pioneers, the individuals whose drive and passion push their industry to new heights. From solar power energy loans to smarter grid systems, the following people are working to better the future of renewable energy.
Preben Maegaard
Preben Maegaard is a renewable energy pioneer from Denmark. For over three decades, Maegaard has been a conference director, organizer and speaker at countless national and international energy seminars. In 1983 he co-founded the Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy, where he has helped engineer various windmill innovations, including design and construction. Maegaard’s goal is for 100 percent renewable energy usage around the world, not just Denmark.
Johannes Lackmann
Johannes Lackman is the former chairman of the federal Association of Renewable Energies and former president of the German Renewable Energy Federation, where he contributed to the ongoing German race towards wind energy development and renewable energy loans. Initially working to develop computer monitors, Lackmann began planning his first civil wind farms in 1994. He now runs Westphalia WIND, a company that tackles pioneering wind projects and loans in the region.
Massoud Amin
Professor Massoud Amin was recently named “Thought Leader of the Year” by Energy Thought Summit 2015. Known as the “father of the smart grid,” Amin’s teachings on solar power grid theory and research over the past 30 years helped earn him the inaugural award. Amin is the director of the Technological Leadership Institute at the University of Minnesota. He has advised governors, the White House, and other agencies about innovative solutions to current energy problems.
Gustav Grob
Dr. Gustav Grob is president of the International Clean Energy Consortium ICEC, and Vice-President of Hymobil AG for clean vehicles, and board member of the International Energy Foundation (IEF). He is committed to the response to the urgent need for a sustainable energy economy.
