4 Reasons Chromebook Is Better Than iPad

by Oliviya Strome Web Deigning

Both Chromebook and iPad are phenomenal devices that allow their users to surf different websites on the internet, play games, use social media, complete their assignments, etc. However, these two devices are not created equal and have different features. Keeping this in mind, we are sharing with you four reasons which make Chromebook better than an iPad.

Here’s why Chromebook is better than an iPad.

Chromebooks Are Cheaper Than an iPad

ChromeOS is an open-source operating system, which means any big or small company can access its source code and modify it according to their requirements for use in their products (Chromebooks). But iOS is not an open-source operating system, which means you have to pay a large amount of money if you want to buy an iPad for yourself.

Besides this, Chromebooks provide better value for the money too. For example, Lenovo Chromebook(C340) comes with a price tag of $260 and has 64 GB internal storage. However, the iPad’s basic model comes with a price tag of $329 and has 32 GB internal storage.

You Can Use Chromebook as a Tablet

Yes, of course, you can connect your iPad with the official keyboard accessories of Apple to make it look and feel like a laptop. But at the end of the day, it’s not a real laptop, and it might not be a perfect pick for someone whose work involves lots of typing. However, most Chromebooks in the market are designed, keeping in mind a traditional/classic laptop, which makes them a perfect substitute for a typical laptop. Besides this, if you own a convertible 2-in-1 Chromebook, then you can easily convert your Chromebook into a tablet by simply folding it, which you can’t do with an iPad.

You Can Use a Mouse and Touch on a Chromebook

Since most Chromebooks can be easily converted into a tablet, you have an option to interact with it using your mouse or touchscreen, which allows you to have better control over the task that you might be performing in it. But we can’t expect such control and user experience with an iPad. Yes, Of course, you can attach a mouse with your iPad if it’s running on iOS 13 or iOS 14. But you can’t have a user experience similar to a laptop on an iPad.

Chromebook Installs Software Updates and Security Patches Automatically

Unlike the iPad, you don’t have to manually download and install software updates and security patches on a Chromebook. Chromebook downloads software updates and security patches in the background and installs them during the boot process. However, an iPad requires you to manually download and install updates on it, which can be very frustrating, especially if the process is taking too much time.

Conclusion

It’s clear that a Chromebook is much superior to an iPad in comparison. But that does not mean you cannot or should not use it as a laptop by connecting it with a keyboard. You can use it as a laptop. However, it’s a tablet and not a substitute for a traditional laptop, so don’t expect to have a user experience similar to a laptop on it.
