India has always been an exotic location for tourists all across the globe. It is known for its culture and traditions, food, natural beauty and history. Every part of the country has a rich heritage that it can boast of. Be it the mighty Himalayan region in the north or the white sand in the West or the UNESCO World Heritage Site Khajuraho in central India, people travel miles and cross oceans to witness these natural and manmade wonders.

The varied landscape of our country often leaves one spellbound. The sheer beauty and robust nature of these areas is enough to make you realize the power of nature. Making a trip to central India would cover states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, UP among others. Some of the most beautiful and unexplored places in our country are in this region.  It is essential to visit the following places when roaming in central India:

1. Kanha National Park

Also known as Kanha Tiger Reserve, this place is a vast expanse of grassland with a wide variety of flora and fauna. You can find tigers, jackals and wild pigs here. It is also a home to birds of prey. The numerous species are documented in the park’s museum.

2. Khajuraho

The World Heritage Site of Khajuraho is one of the most popular places of our nation. The temples here are famous for their erotic depictions dating back to ancient times. The artistic sculptures and the serene beauty that surrounds the place makes for a wonderful trip.

3. Pachmarhi

The only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, this place is known as the ‘Queen of the Satpura Range’. It has a number of waterfalls including the renowned ApsaraVihar and Silver Fall. The Satpura National Park is a home to Indian bison and leopards. This place is also of mythological importance as the Pandav caves, 5 dwellings cut out of sandstone, are believed to be the residence of the Pandav brothers from Mahabharat.

4. Chhatris Of Odisha

Situated on the banks of Betwa river, the Chhatris or the Cenotaphs of Orchha are a photographers paradise. There are fourteen of them created as a memorial for the rulers of Orchha. The first raja of the dynasty offered drops of blood to the Goddess Kali and was named Bundela – one who has offered drops.

These are merely the tip of the ice berg when it comes to the treasures found in this region. The place has an abundance of landscapes worth visiting. Most of these places are still unexplored and hidden from the eyes of tourists.
