3 Spots in Atlanta for Nature Lovers

by Kevin Smith Author

Are you a nature lover looking for things to do near Atlanta? There are many beautiful places in and around this city that you'll enjoy visiting. Here are some of them.

Piedmont Park

Located near mid-town and downtown Atlanta, this park is a popular gathering place for many of the city's residents. This scenic estate is the perfect location for a picnic. You can savor a fantastic view of nature under the shade of the park's many trees. Almost every inch of this 200-acre land is filled with lush greenery since it's home to several groves and thickets. It also features the very picturesque Lake Clara Mere, where one can spend the afternoon fishing.

Aside from reeling in a catch and setting up a picnic, you can do many other activities at this park. You can jog along its many paths, play some tennis, and even take a plunge in its public swimming pool. If you enjoy looking at flowers, you can also visit the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, which is right next to the park.

Noah's Ark Sanctuary

Noah's Ark Sanctuary is a place you should definitely visit if you love animals. Located just an hour's drive away from Downtown Atlanta, this 250-acre land is home to hundreds of rescued exotic beasts and farm-raised livestock under rehabilitation. Guests can take a free self-guided tour through the area and see all the different creatures under the sanctuary's care.

You can also schedule more in-depth visits with their staff, such as the behind-the-scenes WOW tour and the Big Cat Feeding tour. You can even get up close and personal with the animals in the sanctuary through the Keeper for a Day package. Unlike the free self-guided tour, these programs are guided by professionals, and all of them require a certain fee. But if you want to help a good cause and experience one-of-a-kind wildlife encounters, then you should sign up for them.

Stone Mountain Park

Do you want to feast your eyes on a beautiful mountain top scenery? Then you should visit Stone Mountain Park. You can ride a Swiss cable car directly to the summit of this Atlanta icon and get breath-taking views of the forest that surrounds it.

If you enjoy trekking, you can also reach the peak of the mountain by going up the trail. The park has around 15 miles of pathways that you can hike. There are also other attractions, such as a nighttime laser show and rope tunnel playground.

These are some places you'll enjoy as a nature lover. Visit these incredible attractions when you're looking for things to do near Atlanta
