Is Twitter Being Over Exploited?
It has been an year or so I joined Twitter with a hope of getting the most out of my online marketing efforts. It started with a single friend of mine and now I have almost 6500+ followers and as per market conditions this is quite a satisfactory base. Anyway I am not going into the intricacies of followers, etc. What I have noticed is that when I had a comparatively few followers I had fairly good results while marketing any campaign on it. Most of the direct messages were read and the links clicked. But as the user base has increased and is ever increasing, I myself do not go through all the tweets and the direct messages which I receive in my mail box. I thinks there is a lot of trash being sent all over in those tweets and DMs.
With so many websites which can get you tons of followers and many auto tweeting sites I feel Twitter seem to have been hijacked. It has become difficult to read the tweets as so many of them drop in, in a short interval. And I feel most of the people are just tweeting endlessly instead of going through the incoming tweets. What a waste of time and energy!
To make things worse I set up an auto-feed to let the tweets go on through my twitter profile automatically. I feel when we switch over things to autopilot we start loosing the personal touch and eventually start loosing in our marketing efforts - what do you stay?
Do you think Twitter is being over exploited?

When I was writing this article, a thought came into my mind ' Am I doing the twitter stuff the way it is intended to?' But thanks Cherly and Mohann you have certainly cleared some of my doubts.

I agree with you there Mohann. The only ones who get their tweets read seem to be the celebrities and honestly I'm not interested in all the gossip etc. There are people who think something is wrong with me because I really could not have cared less about the royal wedding.

People should understand the futility of Twitter, Facebook etc. Nobody reads your tweets except those of celebrities and all the latter tweet are, when they woke up, when they had the first cup of coffee, whom they called before going to bed etc. I had advised elsewhere people to stop following celebrities but the craze continues. While Twitter's main objective is "What's Happening?", the only seems to be happening is spamming.

That's absolutely right Cheryl I was trying to sign in into my Twitter account but for the last 20 minutes or so the site is just not available - it is just overpopulated!!! Hats off to all those who are making it somehow on twitter.

Twitter, Facebook and almost every SOCIAL network is being over exploited. Yes they can be effective, but most people using them to market are not marketing they are spamming. The people on social networks do not want to constantly be blasted with promotional garbage, especially continuous repetitive posts about the same thing over and over again.
Internet marketers still don't get it. These are social networks and the people there are there to be SOCIAL, not to be spammed. and it doesn't
