Sometimes improvements don't improve a thing
So another lesson learned. This time it was a roll of toilet paper that revealed the ugly truth-improvements don't always improve things, sometimes they are deterimental. What has this got to do with toilet paper you ask? Well a single roll of toilet paper revealed an ugly and alarming fact to me, I've been merrily and unknowing flushing money down the crapper for decades!

When 2-ply toilet paper hit the shelves my family was one of those that switched to this improved toilet paper. It was more absorbent, it was softer etc. I have also found out that it is more expensive to use. I recently ran low and since it was just a tide over, I purchased single ply for the first time in decades (Mainly because it was all that was on the shelf in the convenience store). I made that purchase 3 weeks ago and that single roll lasted for three weeks, a roll the same size of the two ply usually lasts about a week and a half to two weeks. I was actually using the same number of sheets but that single roll kept going and going and then it hit me.
If you are using 2-ply toilet paper you are using twice as much as you need to use! Yes that was a revelation! So I have discovered a hidden method of saving money! I didn't even realize how much toilet paper I was wasting. So now I'm going to start looking at other things I buy (especially paper products) to see where I am throwing away money. Who knows where I'll find another way to save.
I'd suggest everyone switch to single ply and test it out yourself. See if you don't discover that you are flushing your hard earned money down the toilet too.

Thanks for Stopping By Karen and I'm Glad you could start your day with a smile!
@Cindy I wish that I still had my Grandmas little Bathroom bank. I don't know where she got it from but it was a toilet paper holder with a box on top to deposit a nickel for the 'privilege'. You could have put it in your bathroom and charged 75 cents for the privilege. Got to adjust for inflation you know!
