Telephone FRAUD
Although I have read numerous telephone fraud warnings, they almost got me tonight. The phone rang, we looked at caller id, it was a toll free number. My husband (naive concerning frauds) answered. The person on the other end told him "there is a family emergency". He uses the speaker so I said, let me talk to her please. I picked up the phone, she asked for a Ms. Rain. I said "You have the wrong number, what number were you dialing?" She gave me my home number. I asked her what the emergency number was, she said "Let me connect you. IT CLICKED!!
"No Ma'm, I'm hanging up." I hung up the phone.
I immediately called my land line provider, described what happened, they confirmed that they were trying to call forward our number for fraudulent purposes. I was conected to the fraud number, our case was documented.
Why the article written so quickly?
Reading an email caution, sometimes clicks and sometimes doesn't.
When it happens to you, it clicks.
If a stranger calls and alleges family emergency, hang up and report to your land line provider.
AT&T says it is fraud.

There's a lot of Pretexting going on right now. There's also the one that claims you have a message and wants you to dial a code to get your 'message'.
