On Monday January 31st 2011, the White House announced Startup America, a national campaign to encourage startups. The initiative will be chaired by AOL co-founder Steve Case. The campaign has an impressive list of partners, including Facebook, Intel, IBM, HP, the Kauffman Foundation, and Google.
President
Obama said, ?Entrepreneurs embody the promise of America: the belief that if
you have a good idea and are willing to work hard and see it through, you can
succeed in this country.
And in fulfilling this promise, entrepreneurs also play a critical role in expanding our economy and creating jobs. That?s why we're launching Startup America, a national campaign to help win the future by knocking down barriers in the path of men and women in every corner of this country hoping to take a chance, follow a dream, and start a business.?

for American Innovation: Driving Towards Sustainable Growth and
Quality Jobs. President Obama emphasized that "History should be our
guide. The United States led the world?s economies in the 20th century
because we led the world in innovation.
Today, the competition is keener;
the challenge is tougher; and that is why innovation is more important than
ever. It is the key to good, new jobs for the 21st century.
That?s how we
will ensure a high quality of life for this generation and future generations.
With these investments, we?re planting the seeds of progress for our country, and good-paying, private-sector jobs for the American people."
