Military and Veterans-Golden Corral wants to thank you
Last week we all celebrated Veteran's Day to honor our veterans. A lot of different companies offered freebies and discounts to to Active Duty military and Veterans.
Well for the 10th year in a row, Golden Corral Restaurants are showing their appreciation for the military and veterans around the US. IT is the 10th Annual Golden Corral Military Appreciation Day.
It is one of the more successful military tributes that I have seen done. In many cases they just ask if you served but bring proof of service just in case, your DD-214, Retiree ID Card or your Veteran's Administration ID card and get a free ALL Inclusive meal.
The Disabled American Veteran's Association also collects donations at the same time to help our disabled Veterans through their many programs.
Yes we get to eat free but we also can make donations to help our fellow veterans. And many times I have sat at a table with homeless vets who are living on the street. Sometimes these men are eating the only filling full meal they may get for weeks, but more importantly they are around people who treat them with the kindness and respect they deserve for the sacrifices they made. The time to interact with other vets who don't treat them like garbage because they are down on their luck can be more powerful than you think.
So to all my fellow vets go to Golden Corral, meet other vets and share a kind word with the one that may be down on his luck right now. If you aren't a vet so what, come on out too. A kind word doesn't have to come from fellow vets only you know.

I hope they had a chance to make it out for a good meal. It's an annual event that takes place the Monday after Veterans Day. This year it was a bit more publicly promoted with commercials and ads from Actor Gary Sinise (LT Dan from Forrest Gump) and Musical Group Collective Soul.
I could not believe the line! We had an hour's wait to get in and when we left after our meal the line was twice as long! A lot of vets and active duty took part this year and the donation jars for the DAV wer

Went and had a great time. A very long wait in line but time well spent speaking to other vets and some of the active duty folks that came out. The place was packed so a lot of table sharing talking a joking going on between the tables. Even spoke to a few that spent time in Korea which was nice.

It is a very nice gesture. Especially when you think about those who are living on the street and may not get a chance to have a good nourishing meal for a while.
@Snappy ACtually you can just go to your local Golden Corral between 5 and 9 pm today and I'm sure that there will be loads of vets there. You can also take part in the fund raising activities of the DAV or just make a donation.
