I just don't like being on the phone all the time!!
Maybe's it's my age now or maybe it's because I started my working life as a long-distance operator for "Ma Bell" (maybe you are too old to remember that) or maybe it's because of menopause.......I simply do not care to be on the phone! Seems just everyone now wants you to dial in and listen to "the call". I do have a phone, I do not really like to answer it if I don't recognize the number and I sure don't care to dial into every darn opportunity that everyone wants me to listen to everyday. Has anyone besides me noticed that all these confounded calls are always the same time? How could you possibly be on all of them? Thank goodness APSense isn't asking us to dial in!!!
I suppose I'm just getting ornery in my middle age years (used to was these were the "later years") but really--am I the only one who is sick of it? Come on, be truthful and please comment or "top" me here....it's what APSense is all about! Love my APSense!

I think many people tend to forget there's a reasonable percentage of people out there, in every country, including Canada and the US, that can't do anything but watch videos on YouTube, that when you talk about smartphones, they wonder what the ... you're talking about. So, yeah, the phone books are still printed for a reason.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I receive less than 1 phone unsolicited call a week. I'm left my phone number on so many IM sites when registering, and the few peop

Philippe, I love how you handle the situation and how you have your wife's number listed. I an no longer listed in any hard copy phone book--have to agree with Cheryl here, anyone can find your number just by going online. We are all so "connected" now that it's a breeze. I'm not all that warm and fuzzy about being so public.

Phone book??? What phone book? These jackasses are going around and getting people's phone numbers off of their websites.

@Cheryl, I think I have a reputation in Quebec city. I mean, I've worked from home or was on sick leave for most of 2010. When I receive a phone call from a computer, I simply hang up immediately. If it's a tele-marketer, and those we can see coming from a mile away, especially if they begin by saying "Mr. Smith", I ask, "What is this about ?", I give them them the chance to say one sentence for their sales pitch to stay polite, then I say "Sorry, not interested, bye" I wait until they say "sorr

This is too funny! just last night I was involved in a conversation about how phones have gone from a communication method to a do everything method. We were even talking about the joys of party lines (I'll bet a lot of people have no idea what those are).
I agree with you I am sick and tired of computers calling me with spam advertising calls. Thank God for voicemail so I can delete the garbage. And whats really annoying is that they don't just call once, they call over and over again.

I dislike phone calls from abroad. I have Skype but only use the chat function. This enables me to reread a sentence when I do not understand it.

The only problem is you never know when one of those calls is going to open a new concept that you have never understood before. If I listen to a call that lasts an hour and come away with one new idea, I consider that time well spent. It's not like I can't be doing something else at the same time.

Fran, I know exactly what you mean. I also don't like to read stuff with misspelled words and here I've done it myself with that blaring typo in my own post--LOL. Have a great weekend!

I dislike phones at times, when Im busy and get a call and the caller doesn't say a word. Wrong numbers, or a person calling about Insurance, or their business
