The process of becoming a Royal Marine entails a rigorous selection procedure so much so that only the fittest survive. Aspiring candidates have to apply for the Potential Royal Marines Course (PRMC) examinations. The written exam is followed by an interview round. The selection processes are extremely critical and analytical. Hence, each candidate has to be extremely attentive in order to get through.

High level of emotional resilience is perhaps the only way to get through the tests. It is noteworthy that each test has been designed to analyze different skills of the candidates. Candidates would be tested on the history of the Royal Marines also and therefore, a thorough knowledge of the same is imperative. During the process of preparation for these examinations, the Royal Marine candidate must remember to use the right and precise references. A varied study is good but sometimes, that needs to be streamlined to make the study and research more substantial, concentrative and effective.

After the test, the names of the candidates who have been selected for the interview will be short listed. To prepare for this, the potential Royal Marine must be aware of some of the sample interview questions and their responses. Then he or she should create his or her own response to the questions and accordingly derive upon the best answer taking cue from both. Facing mock interviews are the best ways to prepare for such interviews. Answers and responses should be well structured. It is advisable to keep them short and precise and to-the-point.

His confidence in his own abilities must not be mistaken for arrogance. The training that a candidate must undergo is said to be one of the most difficult in the world today. Therefore, a Royal Marine candidate must prepare himself in advance. He must undergo advanced infantry training as well. The Royal Marines are known for their virtues of inculcating team spirit, professionalism and an ambition for success.
