I made $500 total, in 51/2yrs marketing.
It's true! I have only made about $500 marketing in the past 5 1/2 years. What kind of a looser marketer am I? OK so I am not a looser, but I still have had my ups and downs. Read on as I share my marketing online experience with you.
I have learned alot and worked within the industry in marketing and software development. When I began I had no knowledge and had just lost a business due to a bad business partner. Long story short, I lost everything and my family moved to a new town. It was at this point I went to the online home business because I was now 'Overqualified and Under qualified' for ANY job where I lived. I could not find work, I couldn't get a new loan to start new business either. So online I went.
The first year was a nightmare, I clicked for all I was worth and made figurative thousands. I got paid about $6. I clicked emails and links, I did searches and started to learn about gaining affiliates. So with 2 children to feed and a wife who was not working because of the newborn, yes a baby girl came just when we lost the business so now 2 kids and us to provide for.
A year later, we decided to move again and after a few months I got night work and the wife took a day job. I work all night and take care of kids during the day. I sleep, well I am not sure I did sleep that year.
I moved on to affiliate sales, mlm and those styles of programs. I was a horrible failure. Although I had a bit of Money(budget) I still had no credit card, a very important piece of finance for marketers, so i could only go so far, and after 6 months I had to drop out of that because I could no longer afford it.
A few month later I had gotten a credit card and had been learning about the forex market and stocks. I spent many months on the trial software and was certain I could make a few dollars. I even saved up enough to start a broker account to do this. When I went to apply I was told I couldn't use the companies service because of legal issues in my Provence. They did not have license to do business where I lived. Great. So there were a few other companies but the minimum fee to start an account was at least twice as much. Again I was foiled.
By this time my wife was really not to happy and we decided to move again. Back to where we are now. It took 3 months to find a place to live. We were at a friends house on the floor of their 2 bedroom 3 person family home. A condo, so it was quite small and cramped. We were lucky to have such good friends or the 4 of use would have been on the street. I even went to the social welfare office, at which point I was told to phone a number as the offices where closed down. Think about this, a welfare system that has no office. Only a phone number to call.
I was told on that call I would need to call back in a minimum of 3 weeks before I would be considered for welfare. ?? So a family is supposed to live of off what? while waiting 3 weeks for support. What a joke. So anyway we starved and scraped and finally got a little bit of work and then we finally got a place to live after 3 months of looking.
Once we had gotten established and internet hooked back up, I thought to give it another try. Come at it from another angle and use what I had learned previously. At this time I do not have a credit card again as I maxed it out with the mlm and forex attempts. I was not issued a new card when my expiry date came up. So again with no budget to speak of I went back to clicking some emails at programs that had payed me before to get that few dollars to begin something else, a clickin I a went.
At this point I met an old friend of my wife's who is a software developer who needed some help with promotion. I agreed to help him with some promotion, as I do know at least that much. I thought I would be able to make some money as an affiliate for him but he wasn't willing to set things up so I could make money from him. He had different ideas of how it should work.
So he asks me for help and says I will be able to use his software and services in exchange. Great. We get to work, He even builds the frame work for a couple of projects I mention we could make some money with. He builds them but does not finish them, He thinks the software works therefore it is done. NO, NO, NO. I tried to explain to him about packaging, follow up sales and customer retention.
He says no He doesn't want to put anything else into the projects he's to busy. So for about 2 years this goes on, We build up great software that could make some good money and bring him in good clients, but he says no. At this point I have gone without work for a year, taxing my family with the expectations I would be making some money from this.
I have to leave business partner number 2 and loose everything for my efforts. Do I give up Like any sane person might? Of course not. A few months after I lick my wounds and debate what to do next. I decide to go it on my own again. I have a small budget, more experience and still the will to supply for my family.
So working P/T and furiously building webpages, blogs and sales pages on my new hosting account things seem to be looking up.
Until I loose some work which takes my budget away, which looses my hosting and websites. WHEEE, again. After which my laptop stops working. I need to get the back up discs from the software developer who was nice enough to at least buy me a new laptop after the other one died. So it was not a total loss, I at least got a new laptop (that I am making monthly payments for,Sometimes). So I get the discs to reinstall and do so. a few missed weeks of work, not bad. My frikin power cord goes after that. I had no way to power my laptop now. So wait again for a couple of weeks so I can get a replacement. Are we having fun yet?
So here I am now with a $25 a month budget, hosting and have set up my newest set of programs to promote. In 5 years I only made about $500. I am still at it. I do not know why now, I just simply wont give up.

PS: I made money from, selling clickbank products, from affiliate earnings and from crazy doubler and matrix programs. The most I made at one time was $200 from a doubler. It made me feel bad that I made money from someone elses investment.
