America says Goodbye, we'll miss you
This morning We woke up to the sad news, actor and comedian Bernie Mac has passed on at the age of 50. Bernie Mac was one of my favorite comedians. One of the Original Kings Of Comedy spotlighted in Spike Lee's film of the same name, Bernie Mac was a star on the big screen. His credits include Friday, Oceans Eleven, Bad Santa and Transformers.
He was also a star on the small screen in his own show the Bernie Mac Show. He gave us a look into the extended family with all of it's problems and triumphs. The show was reminiscent of the old Black and white Dobie Gillis show with Bernie Mac featured in cut away shots as he addressed his comments on the various situations in a one on one conversation with America. Enjoy the clip.
Bernie, America says thank you and goodbye.

I did have a pair of platforms and I made and sold Dashikis on the side! :) LOL!
I had even met Issac Hayes in person... See my blog when you get a moment! :)

Hey Jeff, question do you have a pair of bell bottoms, platform shoes and a dashieki hiding in the back of your closet? Whenever I I hear this song I remember one of our school bus driver's. This guy was pale white with red hair and he used to go get it permed so he could have an afro and the whole dashieki/bellbottoms/platform shoes thing and the black fist afro pick in the fro. Thinking back now this guy was a walking laugh riot!

It's truly been a really tough year for a lot of celebrity folks, I'm still amazed at at the passing of George Carlin, and now Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes.... :(

Bernie Mac will be missed, my heart goes out to his family. He was so young only 50 years old. There were rumors out before that he had passed away so when I heard this shocking news and discovered it was the truth this time, it was sad news for me.

You are right Cheryl.. he took a very difficult situation such as raising he niece and nephew, and actually made it funny. It is difficult enough and certainly not funny to raise your own, imagine the responsibility of having to raise others' children. I certainly would not find any humor in that, but Bernie Mac did the "walking on eggshell" thing well with his no nonsense approach with a twist of humor. Just loved him !

I will always remember his routine on the Original Kings Of Comedy when he talks about taking in his neice and nephew. It was the basis of the show. Bernie Mac could reduce me to tears of laughter in a heartbeat.

Hi Cheryl...Thank you for posting this. I loved Bernie Mac; very difficult to talk about him in past tense. I think America has lost a great Comedian/Actor. His weekly comedy had me roaring every week; trying to act all tough but acturally jello-hearted; I can't see anybody else in his role. I will definitely miss him terribly. I just about passed out when I saw the headline on Yahoo ! Homepage. I yelled to my kids who had just walked in and they both said solemnly, "We heard Mom; big loss def
